Just picked it up tonight; very nice instrument (as always; it's not my first EBMM), but it is my first spanking brand new one.

So I know that I am going to pull the neck off and give it a good tru-oil finish, but the question is the fretboard. I never put tru-oil on the fretboard and want to, but am concerned about cleaning the frets and whether it was a good idea in general. I know that my Axis feels like it had tru-oil on the fretboard as well.

And yes, I'm obviously talking about maple fretboards here. :)

Well apparently this place is pretty dead. I went ahead and finished the neck. I put about 3 coats on the fretboard and probably a good 10 on the back of the neck. Used steel wool between applications so there isn't a lot of build up, but it turned out really, really good. A little gun stock wax on there afterwards and it's sealed, smooth, feels and great and looks really nice as well.

don't EBMM guitars come with the neck already finished and waxed from the factory? or was it not glossy enough for you?
