OK....I am awaiting my new JP to arrive and low and behold, Santa brings me a new guitar. Well, it is not of the six string variety. It is a bass with a bass amp. Man, what a gift. Now, I am gonna be hittin up both sides of the house for advice on how to play these things. Mind you, Santa did not bring me a low entry level bass, no no no....he brought in a Bongo! Well, to my great surprise, I must say, I guess, I have to throw out some low end to compliment my own tunes. Thanks Santa....ah, yeah.......my beloved wife!

Ah, I'm not worried...we needed the toaster to replace our old one that died under the tarps (LOL!), and I have all of the guitar gear that I need.

I got one of those little Tascam Guitar Trainers (the CD player with some built in guitar amps/effects which you can use to learn licks).

Also got a nice hardshell case for my acoustic, new lo-profile boom stand for mic'ing my amp, several sets of Ernie Ball strings, some Fast Fret, and lots of new clothes.

I got DRUNK! :D

...see his avatar for conclusion of that story. :)

Heh, I joke about not getting this and that, and I whine about people getting a Ferrari of a bass guitar when they don't even/hardly play, etc. but whatever...life's too short. I got to spend some quality time with the 'rents, a sister that I hardly see anymore (since she's not 13-14 anymore and hanging out at home as much, etc.), and some good familiy friends over the holidays. The pleasure of spending time with family and friends tends to get pushed by the wayside in our busy lives.

Truth be told, material gifts are great and all, but aren't the way of the season, and material is only temporary. Family and friends are important and forever. Taking Keith's situation into consideration this holiday, all of the moments spent with everyone seemed just that much sweeter and more pleasing, knowing that that person, blood or otherwise, could not be around in an instant. I feel for you brother, no doubt about it, but one's misfortunes are other's lessons. We learn from experience, self or otherwise. If not, there's no one to blame but yourself.

Overall, no EBMM can give you the feelings that come with being around your loved ones. Please do your best to call or visit them more often, if not at my prodding, at least for yourself...then play the EBMM AFTER you get off the phone with Mom. :)

Hope you all had a great holiday.

I second that one dwf.....we just had a hell of a snow storm here yesterday and and my dad was driving out here to see me and family. Took him quite a while to get here due to roads closing and bad road conditions. Really had me worried. At one point, I talked to him and told him to pull over and I would get in the 4X4 and come get him. No reason to get hurt just to visit. Life is too short. Yeah, material gifts make the moment great, but the family is for life. I for one, love the family more than anything. I have come close to losing that a few times (job related), but, that is the nature of the beast sometimes. I sit back and just thank God how lucky I am to be here to have such a wonderful wife and a beautiful daughter. I look at life completely different than most....as I am on my second round.....another story later.......and I sit back and wonder why I am so lucky as to meet some of you like OC and keith and get to chat with others like the rest of you on the forum.....really good people here. No attitudes and just plain good people. I hope everyone has/had a wonderful Christmas and hope the coming year is better than ever for you.
