Hey everybody-I bought a new EB/MM guitar today to go with my '94 Sterling (among other guitars and basses), so it seemed like a good day to sign up for the forums. A few of you (Hey, Dan-) will recognize me from other cyber-locales.
I bought a guitar a few of you may have seen online-the Rosewood Super Sport at Indoor Storm. FWIW, their website prices are "list", not "sale"- the pricing was very competitive, and the experience was a good one.
The guitar doesn't seem to weigh in any heavier than the typical Super Sport, and it balances very well, something that I was concerned about due to the rosewood neck. Fit and Finish is great in typical MM fashion.I can't wait to get it home and noodle around for a few hours...

I'm working on pics. The first batch came out crappy, so bear with me-I'm new to the pic posting thang.

I've been too busy PLAYING the thing to take good pics. :D

This guitar has something 'extra'- I'm trying to put my finger on it. I'll try to explain.
No matter how much gain I use, chords don't mud out. You can play 5 and 6 note chords and hear every note. Very piano-like. The sustain is great, but not at the expense of brightness. I was initially a bit worried that the rosewood would smooth things out more than I would like, but that's not the case at all. This guitar has crazy note definition.

The top is one piece and the grain runs horizontally from neck to endpin as opposed to across the top. It's really chocolatey. The top stain looks killer against the binding, cream portion of the zebras, and knobs. It's really understated.

The neck feels and smells great, and the fretwork is standard EB/MM perfection. I'd like to think that if this was one of the first of its kind it got a little extra attention-it sure seems that way.

I haven't weighed it yet, but it feels lighter than I expected. I had tried quite a few RW neck guitars by a Maryland-based company, and they didn't balance properly-the RW made 'em neck-heavy. This one is just right. I actually have played a few regular Super Sports that felt almost too light for me, so that's where I an coming from.

This guitar would RULE with MM90s. In fact, if I don't get a Morse next I may just order one. I also have a couple of PRSi and I think the best guitar they make is the RW Neck Soapbar McCarty-a RW/MM90 Super Sport would destroy it at 1/2 the price.I'd also be curious to know if they plan to make any of these with a maple top/RW neck combo. Until I found this guitar pretty much by accident, I hadn't seen anything at all about them, and the website makes no mention of this model. Then again, they don't mention Buttercream or the Y2D Morse either.

The PRS junkies call Rosewood "Crackwood" because they consider it addictive. After 3 days I'm looking for my next fix.

In all fairness, all Axis models have this focus in the sound. My EVH model, even cranked through a 5150 has amazing definition on all of the strings - it is the one x-factor I can't find on another guitar - spectacular!

I've just ordered a rosewood neck Mccarty, but with the regular McCarty buckers - I agree that EBMM should consider a maple top rosewood neck combo - they sound and feel great - I'd also love to see an EBMM with arched quilted/flame top and binding - but BP has already made it clear that the company can't cater for everyones dream guitar, worse luck... ;)

F.C. - I had asked the MM90s question under your post on BAM and was going to also ask you over here - thanks for answering it! When the time comes for another guitar a SuperSport/Rosewood/Rosewood MM90s will be in my future.

My funds are going into an amp deal I made over the weekend - I'm at the point where the only gear I have that I am really happy with is my Silo Special, so I'm offing a Strat for a Rivera Clubster 25 amp. Until that deal is digested and my DRRI is also gone, no new guitars for me. :(

Enjoy the Crackwood Axis!
