I have just fitted a set of slinkys to my new Axis...I dont think I have ever been more careful changing strings in my life cos I have never had a guitar I have been so worried about scratching the top with a stray string end!!

Phew, that was hard work!!

LOL . . I know. The Axis is just as much a work of art as it is a musical intrument.

I've never been too worried about scratching the top for two reasons. One, I change the strings one at a time. Two, I string them backwards. Instead of clipping off the ball end, I just run the string through so that the free end goes toward the bridge. I clip off the strings at the fine tuners, lock 'em down, tune it up, and I'm ready.

I'm sure that method is second nature to most, but I've been amazed at how much it speeds up the string changing process.
