High all!

While I have long been an admirer, I am a novice to the Ernie Ball/Musicman world. I recently received an offer for a trade on a bass of mine in exchange for a 1995 single pickup Stingray in transparent blue with maple neck and fretboard. I'm wondering what the book value of this bass would be. From the pictures I was sent of the bass, it looks to be in excellent condition. any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like he wants something of yours that you think is worth less than this. Make sure that the electronics and pickup are original. Check the neck and trussrod.

Maybe someone else on here might have a different opinion as to the possible value so wait for a few more responses.

A 6 month old G&L Tribute SB-2 is actually what I had posted for sale or trade. He's a regular on Talkbass, so I don't think he would try to pull as fast one but I can't imagine trading a 'Ray for a Tribute.

Thanks for all the input.
I contacted the guy back and asked if he was really talking a straight trade- his 'Ray for my Tribute. If so, I was in.

Will keep you all posted.

Does he have feedback on TB? And not just for low $ purchases.

Yeah, he's actually made a few sales and recieved very high praise from everyone he's done business with. I think I would be fairly safe with this cat.

Two things about the bass, I've noticed from the pic he sent that there are a couple chips in the finish on the front and the original pickup was replaced with a BassLines pickup. I'm hoping he still has the original.

Without the original pickup and preamp the value drops considerably.

Not sure if EBMM would put in a stock pickup and preamp if you sent them the bass or not. You'd have to ask if that's what you wanted to do.

Unless he has the original one we can't help him out. Now if he does have the original, even if it is busted in half, then we can definitely help him out.
