Hey guys- I just found this picture on the DiMarzio website, it appears as if there is a black streak under the strings/pickups, like the neck wasn't covered by a top wood on a neck-thru guitar. Anyone have any info on this pic?

Could this be the JPX12?

It's an old pic. It's a JPX. I noticed the black on the pickup area as well, but there are otber pictures of him from the same photo shoot with the same guitar and it's just a normal JPX. Not sure why it looks like that in that pic.

What's up with the wind blown hair? lol why to photo shoots employ these techniques for guys and their guitars? I can understand doing that in a maxim mag or Chatelaine etc...is that double standard of me:)

The image was touched up to enhance the colour of the body. They used a simple magic wand selection tool, which stopped at the strings and the part underneath was left un-enhanced. The give-aways here are a little patch left at the edge of the body, between the tone control and the piezo volume, the headstock is the same colour as the patch under the strings, and the colour transition looks weird on the contouring at the lower bout. Jeffy, do you agree?

As for the wind blown hair, Steve Vai was the stylist in the shoot! :D
