I went into Guitar Center today with the intention of purchasing a new guitar. I've never played a EBMM guitar before. On the wall there were three JP models, one JPX black sugar, a regular JPX with the purple barolo(sp?) finish and a JP6 in turquoise with a roasted maple neck. I played all three and really didn't like the JPX's 5 way switching or the overall feel of the guitar. The JP6 seemed to play effortlessly and honestly I think it's the most comfortable guitar I have ever played, so I got it. (traded in a Warwick bass that I never use anymore and got a 15% off coupon so I paid about $1600 for the new guitar)
I also played a PRS; I've never played any of their models before, and I was very disappointed. The one that I played had a very thick neck that I couldn't get comfortable playing. I also tried an EBMM Axis but after owning a floating bridge guitar before I didn't want to have to deal with the tuning issues (even if the Axis is a stable guitar.) I really didn't like the neck on the Axis either.
I am extremely happy with my purchase, I think it's the best guitar I have ever played and I thank all those who contributed in my thread comparing the JPX to the JP6, I picked the right one!
...And an awful picture of the guitar!
I may be able to borrow a decent camera tonight, I'll try to get some better pictures.
EDIT:
I seem to be having issues with the piezo switch. Here's a video detailing my problems:
The magnetic pickups seem to still be active in both the middle and upper positions on the piezo. I'm using a mono cable into the mono output.
