I'm going to be ordering a new L3 BFR, but can't decide on a color. Choices are Hazel, Blueberry, Black, Ruby Red and Bahama Blue Bursts. I'm curious what colors forum members like. I like all of them, currently leaning towards the black burst, but I'll probably change my mind a hundred times before I order. Also, does anyone know how they sound with the maple top and mahogany tone block? I currently have an L3, HSS config with roasted maple neck-rosewood fretboard.

I decided on Hazel when I played them at NAMM. The color with a flame top is stunning in person. As far as tone you had to use earphones at NAMM but the maple top and mahogany tone block give the L3 a very usable and versatile sound. I would say a little brighter than the L3 with a little more meat. My choice would be the HH version... The neck HB was awesome!

ask 100 people and you will get 100 different answers, but if i could get one id be getting the blueberry with a flame top and HSS, there is a small tone difference between my Luke 2 and my BFR, the BFR is a tiny bit warmer, to me anyway, but that is playing at home levels, perhaps could be greater at gig volume, whatever you pick I'm sure it will be an awesome guitar,

Don't get me wrong, Blueberry is a SWEET color. That flamed Hazel in HH just calls my name and would fit in with what I want to do. I'm also going to set up the Silo Spec with a transition HB and the 2 Dimarzio singles they suggest are most similar to the L3. You can't go wrong with the BFR L3... People will be blown away when they play it. Even those with a regular L3.
