Have any members had fret issues with the new Luke BFR? I just recieved the Bahama Blue Burst and notes are dead bending strings at the 18th fret.

Thanks for any info!

If you see my other threads, you'll see that I've just had this issue with my Sil Special.

Took it to the dealer and his tech had to do a fret dress.

He said ALL the frets above the 13th were uneven !!

Not good for a new guitar, but now it's done, I understand what all the fuss is about !

I have 7 balls. 4 were bought BRAND NEW (including that white silo, which isn't 2nd hand, but NOS).

None of them have ever required ANY sort of fretwork, except some of the used ones which basically need a refret due to wear. Other than that, there's nothing a trussrod tweak wouldn't solve. And don't forget, I live in a country where the climate is very different from SLO, and the necks need about 3 to 4 days to acclimatise. After that, a MINOR tweak might be needed, but that's all.;)

I'm surprised these issues exist. Is it really the guitar that's a problem?

If it were really that bad coming out from the factory, BP would have invested in a Plek already.:D

Change tech :D a minor adjustement on the truss can really change things, though such things 'may' happen they are pretty rare

I'm an experienced guitar player ( 25 yrs !! and counting ) I KNOW how to adjust a truss rod and when it's needed.

It was the frets.

I'm not saying it is our friend's issue, but it was mine and can happen with any new guitar, unless they're plekked.. never tried a bad Suhr !!

sounds like some techs are finding ways to make some $$$... Kinda like a crooked car mechanic......

Warg Master, please don't disrespect me.

You don't know me or the level of my knowledge.

I don't think my tech would appreciate his knowledge quesioned either.
He happens to be one of the most famous techs in the world and doesn't work on just anyone's guitars.

I'm lucky that I've known him since my childhood.

Not every guitar leaves every factory perfect. Some slip through the net.
Mine needed some fettling to make it perfect, and now it is.

My frets needed dressing, it's not an excuse, it's a fact.

Whether or not our friend's Luke needs the same is a seperate issue.
My point is simply that, if it needs a fret dress, it's no big deal and is well worth doing.

Is it "your" tech or your dealers tech?
If he works at/with a music store he would have to work on just about anyones guitar since that would be his main reason for being there.
If "your" tech is not the guy at the dealer why didn't you just take it to your "famous" friend?
If you say because it's "new" or "under warranty" and the dealer would do it for free, wouldn't it be better to have your "famous" friend do it since your implying he would do a better job reguardless of a cost being involved.
If a fret dress is "no big deal" then why start a thread on it?
If you have an "issue" do you really want the general publics "opinions" or answers from the people that made the instrument.

This is not an attack, just trying to clear up your posts on this thread for myself.

Plese take it to your dealer and if that doesnt work please contact cs sounds like a minor truss rod adjustment

I think that just about sums it up - it is very hard to do remote diagnosis for these kinda things...

If you are familiar with truss rod adjustments, you can try for yourself and see if you can solve your issue easily.
If not: follow BP's advice, the EBMM customer service is THE BEST!

Rock on!

This (above quotes) is a reason why you should take your guitar or bass back to the dealer if there is issues.

If the dealer cannot resolve said issue...then call CS.

All this "my tech", the "best tech", the "only tech", Virginia Tech...Texas Tech...all these "techs" and we DO NOT KNOW what the problem is without seeing it in our hands.

We are now running on what we call ASSUMPTIONS and we know what that means....and if you don't....PM me, I will tell you.

I will not throw any mud out there...but...wolf...I have tried some big name brands and had some issues. It happens.....but...don't act like your so suhr ALL those guitars are perfect either. It was a jab....and one not needed. I am glad you got your issue worked out...but...not everyone who comes on here with an issue has a fret issue. You did...it was fixed....so enjoy the guitar.

So let this die.

Guys, you're not reading my replies in context !!

THIS IS NOT MY THREAD

I was attacked because I explained that my guitar's issue was not an adjustment problem... and my knowledge was questioned very rudely !

Mine needed a fret dress FACT, my FAMOUS tech friend owns the shop.
He has a tech to deal with the public and general stuff and he deals with famous players...I won't name drop.

He sorted mine because I asked him to look at the problem and his attention to detail is awesome.

The entire reason I answered this thread was to reassure the guy that a fret dress might be needed and is not a big deal with ANY new guitar !

This one is not your thread, but you started one about yout silo special.
As I said, I asked because I was curious unto my own desires.

On another note, fame is in the eye of the beholder. There are many "famous" performers that will remain unknown to vast sections of people (I am only addressing music, but it applies most anything) for their entire existance and beyond. You are kind enough not to drop names, all that happens is a persons feet get hurt ;)

Here's another thought, just because a person has worked on "famous" people's guitars does not mean that person will have the "fact" solution for an instrument but I bet they will have a few damn good ideas as to what's wrong, just from their experience in the trade. I bet one of those ideas will most likely be correct.
Also, the tech having worked on "famous" persons instruments means the "famous" people like (or like well enough) the work being done. This does not mean that person will do work/setup to everyone's liking. Case in point.
SRV's guitar in most peoples opinion was setup with action so high it would be suspect for a faulty neck and strings so thick acoustic steel string players would feel right at home.

I digress,
to the thread starter. Call EB Customes Service.

These mini-wars seem to blow up so quickly and for really no reason.

Personally, the reason why I love this company isn't that they produce perfect guitars every time out..because no manufacturer can or does.

But that this company does produce my favorite guitars at still reasonable prices, and while some will have an occasional issue they go to great lengths to correct problems, try and make sure their customers are satisfied, and include us in very special events that make us excited to be a musician no matter our years of experience or playing level.

Lets not be so quick to jump on people, especially new members, who have questions or issues with their instrument and come here looking for answers and help.

Peace my brothas! :D
