New to the forum.

I have a brand new Y2D that I'm trading and have a few interesting offers:

Gold Roller with a little tarnish on the bridge, worn case, otherwise v/g
Black Reflex (condition TBD)
97 PRS Custom 22 with Duncan pickups.

Any thoughts.

Don't know much about the Reflex or GR, so any help there is much appreciated.

Thanks,

The Gold Roller is a smokin guitar, I love mine and it goes to every gig with me. The mini-buckers are fairly high output and the guitar itself is fantastically lightweight.

What questions in particular do you have about the guitar ?

Thanks Pete,

I'm trying to get an idea of the tone, especially in comparison with MM guitars that I know (Y2D, Axis, Petrucci).
I've heard this guitar is "strat-like" tonally. I've never played anything with mini-buckers, so any perspective on the tone
would help.

I would say that to my ears it is not at all strat-like but more like what EB's MM90 pickups might sound like if they were humbuckers. Maybe this will help?

Sorry for the dodgy playing!

Once you get enough posts, you might want to consider putting a For Sale / Trade ad up. Also, fill in your profile with your location.

If you ask for what you actually want to trade it for (make a list, maybe?), you may get a taker. If you're close to me, how about an Axis in perfect condition that I bought in Pete's shop new? :)

Got the Gold Roller, but it's not for me. How do you post items for sale here? I'm looking to net $1,400 for the Gold Roller. I don't seem to have an option to post in the for sale section.

You probably don't have enough posts yet. The forum is set up so that contributing (ideas, answers, comments) members are given the privilege of free for sale posts. Hang around. Talk about your guitar and what you like/don't like about it.

And please put your location in your profile. You keep talking about guitars that I'd trade mine for, but I don't know where you are.

I think the Gold Roller is a great guitar, it plays and sounds incredible.... unfortunately I personally don't care for the gold color.

Now that I've had the Gold Roller for a few days and have had a chance to try her out a bit, I agree with ScoobySteve's characterization of "beastly." It is definitely a rock n roll machine. The person I traded with said that it was strat-like, which is not at all my finding. It's definitely more high output and modern sounding than any conventional strat.

The gold is pretty cool, I think.

Your seller was really mistaken! It isn't "strat-like" at all.

Strat Like? Wow I dont know how the guy who sold you that could even come up with that one. My Roller I honestly could say has the best tone for my ears out of any of my guitars. Pete has two really nice demos up, by the way some nice blues playing Pete and the lick at 1:11 playing off the D shape of the major scale is one of my favorites that depending on the track I usually finish on the E shape 3 positions up lol. But this demo by Pete with the Dargie Roller shows another side of the guitar with a fatter tone dialed up which I really like YouTube - ‪Silhouette Gold Roller Dargie Delight II‬‏ as this ax can get quite fat.

Maybe he meant 'strat-like' in terms of playability. Definitely plays more like a Strat than it does a LP or even a PRS. IMO the GR sounds much fatter and fuller than a typical Strat - definitely more my kind of sound.

Having mix feelings about this one. I can feel the quality difference with the BFR. The neck is awesome and construction is top notch. The pickups are definitely high output or at least more so than I thought.

Lovely guitar! sorry you aren't digging it. I'd love to try and swing one of these someday. It's been on my wishlist for quite sometime now. Question for Pete! dude, what amp are you playing through on your video? I love the tone...
