Hi everyone. I have joined because I just ordered my first Music Man (Sterling actually). I needed a HB equipped, high output guitar to supplement my Strats. I have liked MM, based on looks only, for a long time. When I found the Sterling JP series I knew I found my next guitar. I ordered the transparent black, JP100.

I have being playing electric on and off since I was 8 (35+ years ago). I also play classical. I have been almost exclusively a Strat player. I currently have a 2011 Malmsteen Fender as my number one and a few Scalloped Squires.

My main influences are Lifeson, Gilmour, Malmsteen, Friedman, Uli Jon Roth, Howe and Petrucci.

I look forward to learning more from you here and I really look forward to next week when I finally get my hands on my JP. Who knows, if I like it enough I might get a MM JP down the road!

Cheers,

Michael

Welcome to the GAS station! Congrats on the new guitar. There's no doubt that it'll be a gateway instrument to more Balls.

LOL! I knew there might be some folks here that might be also over there! You were right about the JP100 not having an asymmetrical neck as stated in the review on the Sterling site. Pat confirmed it today.

Thanks for the welcomes.

I will be sure to do a NGD post. It's a funny thing doing an online purchase of an unseen, factory sealed guitar, especially of a make and model that I've never tried.

From an appearance perspective I don't know what quality of quilted maple grain mine will have. Every guitar is obviously different.

From a playing perspective it should be fun too. I think I will be ok going from scalloped necks to the JP due to the Jumbo frets. The flatter radius, thinner neck should also not be a problem. I had a BC Rich years ago and I was comfortable with that. It will be fun!
