hi guys im a new member but i have been reading through the forums for a while now and that the reason the im going to buy a john petrucci six string mystic dream fully loaded it should be arriving in three days. my first experience with ernie ball was on a trip that i took with my dad to san luis obispo ca, he was a truck driver so he went to pick up some wastes but he didnt know where. on our way up there i kept bugging him to buy me a guitar but he wasnt paying attention to me so i just went to sleep, the next day he came in and woke me up at about 6 in the morning and asked me if i knew a company called ernie ball and i said yeah those are the string i use he then told me to put on my shoes and come outside so i did. my dad was doing his job and he happened to tell someone who wrked there that i wanted to play guitar little did he know that that guy was someone who worked in the ernie ball factory the man offered to give me a tour of the music man factory. it was around the time they were making the limited addition spinal tap guitars with the speedometer in them i remeber i got to hold one, it was one of the best experiences of my life and i want to thank ernie ball for letting me in even though i was about eleven at the time. i also want to thank everyone at the forums who spoke so highly of the jp because they helped me in my decision of getting my guitar so thanks to all.

Congrats, do you have a JP yet?

Here is where you can get the specs for the JP:
http://www.ernieball.com/mmonline/specs/instruments_jp6.html

The guitar you are talking about is the Mr. Horsepower, they are awesome and there was only like 26 made.

The fatory's mint huh, they just had an open house in September a bunch of us from here got to go and check the place out, it was the experience of a lifetime.

Yup, I have a JP, I just got it about a month or so ago, awesome guitar, really glad that I bought it.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

the neck is thin
i am guessing up until now you have mostly or only played on finished necks
the petrucci is unfinished (meaning no shiny stuff on the back of it)
and this makes it sooo much smoother and faster
you will really notice the difference and love it

the bridge is fantastic
as petrucci says he wanted something 'a bit more manlier'
and thats exactly what it is
stays in tune beautifully unless you vai it up and it HAS to be perfectly intonated
like any guitar i guess

you must post some pics of it when you get it

thats mine
i have the exact same guitar you are getting

you will love it mate
and welcome to the board

Hi Juan234!

That is a great story about your father taking you to SLO.

I have a JP6. It is a very comfortable guitar to play.. the body contours let your picking hand rest exactly where it wants to be.

Mine stays in tune very well.

I love the neck, but that's a personal preference. Depends what feels comfortable in your hands. It's thin and wide, but not uncomfortably wide.
