Hello Guys!

I recently purchased a Stingray 5 with a piezo system! Such a good instrument! :)
I have been travelling for a while through Europe, to finally arrive in Barcelona.
I'm starting new bands, but it's not that easy and pretty long! (My spanish is still very light!!)

So I made a web page with my own basslines, just to practice and to go ahead!

I'm curently working on to add other tunes and vidéos...

To master the instrument technicaly needs sometimes, and i'm just starting to get deep into the different possiblities.
I would appreciate if you guys, using Musicman basses, could give me some opinions and advises about the sound, the technics or whatever to improve, or to exchange!

Thanks a lot!

Welcome. Not sure what we can do for you in terms of advice unless you've got specific questions.

There are a lot of recommendations for good books and a link or two over in the Theory thread, if you're comfortable reading instruction in English. What's your native language?

Here's a good instructional website:

Have fun, and congratulations on the SWEET bass!

We need photos...

Thanks for the link!

I'll have a deep look later, i'm in a hurry right now... And my native language is french, so I need to be a bit more focused to read technical english!

Actually, i'm looking for specification about how to use the piezo. It gives so much to the sound, sometimes i'm afraid it gets unbalanced, or to rich in the low! But such a nice sound for the high!!

I have few songs and vidéos here : www.myspace.com/arnoslot

And otherwise, here some pictures :

The obvious (and correct) answer is to do what sounds best to you.

For what it's worth, I've got a Bongo with a piezo. I like to keep a little bit of the piezo mixed in all the time...about 25% piezo, 75% magnetic pickups. That's what sounds best to me. I rarely move away from that.

There are a couple of other piezo users here (MingusBASS for one) who might want to share how they use it.

Regarding too much low, etc.... I've found through experience that what sounds good to you when playing alone does not usually sound good in a band setting. Too much low end can make the sound muddy.

I recommend stepping as far away from your amp as you can while the whole band is playing and listening to the overall mix...not just yourself. EQ your bass and amp so that the band sounds good. I'll wager you find you need less low end than you might think, and more mids.
