Hey guys, I bought the 1983 Stingray off talkbass this week and the bass was just delivered.
I must say that this stingray is so far my favorite stingray that I have played. I have had several pre-EB and several EB stingrays and I think this bass contains what I like both about both eras.
This bass has an alder body (I really wanted an alder body to tame some of the brightness) and a top load bridge (I for some reason always favor stringing through the bridge and not the body). The neck profile is also somewhat slimmer front to back than other stingrays I have played, might just be in my head, but it feels very nice.
The sound is full and focused and the preamp sounds great (not "too" electric)
The only bad thing is that the bass is in mint condition! I am not always very good at being careful with my basses as they are always on the road and in the studio with me leaning against some wall or amp.......
Here are a few pics form the seller:

I'll get my own pics up soon.
