Hey all! First post and now proud owner of a Axis SS with a piezo and so far am loving it! Just a quick question or two. With the two jack sockets, if you plug into the magnetic one does this still waste the battery? I realize it will for the piezo socket. And speaking of this stuff I don't get all this stuff about mono and stereo outputs but this seems like the sort of stuff that will be on the forum if I search for it but anyone care to give a sentence explanation?

Can you use rechargeable 9 volt batteries? Just to save a bit of money but if the battery life is long (what is the battery life btw?) is it worth it?

And finally, should my guitar have come with a manual? If so I'll go back and ask at the shop, seems this sort of stuff would all be covered in there...

Sorry for these incredibly noobie questions but what I've seen of this forum so far you're a helpful lot!

Anyway, I'm off for a play of my new axe. :D

The magnetic output does not drain battery and it actually works without the battery too.

I haven't tried with rechargeable batteries-

There's no manual with the guitar, but there's a FAQ section on the EB website - http://www.ernieball.com/faq_content.php?subjectcode=mm_guitars

Q: What is the best way to hook up one of your guitars equipped with the piezo bridge?

A: The Music Man models with piezo are designed to run out to two separate systems. That's what we consider the best option - the electric goes through the regular on-stage rig and the piezo runs direct through the house mains. To do this, you can either use both outputs at once with mono cables or you can run a single stereo cable out of the "magnetic/stereo" output and use a stereo-to-mono splitter box (such as our Ernie Ball catalog # 6190). Then, you take each respective lead where it is to go. Or, instead of running the piezo signal through the house mains, you could use an acoustic amplifier first and then run it to the house mains - or not.

Of course, you can always just run the signal out of the "piezo/mono" output jack and have it run to to a standard guitar amp and mix the signal on your guitar alone - but to get the real potential of the piezo bridge, we know that running it through separate systems as described above works best.

Wow! Very friendly welcome! I've been on a fair few forums when that hasn't been the case...

Thanks for the help ivanmihaljevic and Spudmurphy, your links have helped me immensly.

As for pics I'll try and get my camera working soon, but no promises. It's lost and pretty crap! :p

Sorry for the not great post, fairly drunk at the moment so not posting the most intelligent of messages...

Ha ha , I love it!
There's nothing better than winding down after a big night (getting drunk) and reading through the forums.
Glad I'm not the only one.
