Hi.
I have a JP6 which has regular pickups. Anyway, I've seen that many JP6s have a special one which is just a line instead of holes, if you understand what I mean.

Here's a picture with the two pickups:

Is this strange pickup the "D sonic" or something like that? And is it a large difference in the sound with/without it? Should I buy one and replace it? If I do so, how much does it cost?

The D-sonic (and yes, that's what it is) has been the standard bridge pup in all JP's for about 2 years. It replaced the custom Steve's Special. Should you replace it with the D-sonic? That's all a matter of preference. The D-sonic is much more in-your-face than the SS. I find the SS is a little smoother for leads. Personally I like having both (I've got 2 with the SS and 3 - including my BFR with the D-sonic).

One of these days, I'm going to have to get a regular JP6 with the D-Sonic. I loved the 2006LE that I played in a Dallas GC around the time of the Dallas Bash.
