New pickups for EBMM Silo

Anybody already used Seymour Duncan JB / 59 on EBMM Silo?

I think the PAF Pro very bass (my amp is a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier) and I am looking pickups a little more treble and more presence. Which pickup I can put to play hard rock and heavy metal (Van Halen, Scorpions, Journey, Bon Jovi etc..)?

Another suggestion?

Sorry, I am a AxisSuper Sport player thats not real familiar with the Silo but has anybody ever used that pickup combo in ANY guitar and had it sound bad?

I would think that would sound great for what your looking for. Especially the bridge JB. The only thing I would worry about is since your playing out of a Single Rec (I had one, great amp) and looking for more treble response, the 59 in the neck has the potential to sound pretty dark in some situations, and occassionaly a bit muddy if the amp is not eq'd right.

May I suggest a Seymour Duncan Jazz for your neck position? It is a bit brighter to my ears and responds a bit more accurately to your picking velocity all while maintaining the girdth and sustain of the 59.

I used to think the Duncan 59 was the best neck pickup ever till I tried the Jazz. Now I love the Duncan Jazz almost as much as the stock neck pup on my Axis Super Sport. Now that is a NECK PUP!

SD JB + Jazz Model seems to be a good choice!

This guitar uses 250k pot, wouldn´t it be better to use a 500k?

For what you are looking for tonewise I would go 500K volume and tone pot without a doubt.

Maybe someone else could hop in the discussion (just maybe, please) regarding choice of capacitor. Not sure what your Silo came with but you will probably want to change that out also to a .022 uf to get the most out of the humbuckers. Although if you play with your tone knob all the way up, all the time, I don't think it will make a huge difference.

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but I think that would be the formula to get you where you want to go.

I did nto like the JB in a Schecter PT I had. Too middy for me. I put a Duncan Custom5 in it and it was much better. More like a hot PAF sound without the bleepin' mids overpowering everything. The Jazz neck was nice, kind if like a SUB-1 neck pup it reminds me of.

The PAF pro is not a bassy pickup. As others have mentioned, I would try 500k ohm pots before swapping pickups.

I'm just going to change it up a bit...why dont you check out the Suhr Aldrich pickups? Everything I've heard so far they sound awesome for the hard rock and metal area. Also the SSH+ is an amazing pickup. Suhr make some great sounding pickups overall, and I think those would be pretty cool choices for a Silhouette. Actually, I remember seeing a video of a guy that had the SSH+ in his Silo...let me find it for you .

+1 for the pot change. However, what year is your Silo? You might have Virtual Vintage PAFs, not PAF Pros. It's actually easy to tell, the Pros have black pickup poles while the vintages have metal ones. That might influence your pickup choice.

Yeah, I'd try working with the current pickups before swapping them, too. 500k pots are a good suggestion. You can also try a low capacitance cable - that can make a big difference.

what year is your Silo?

DOB: 7/19/01
.. This guitar have 2 PAF Pro (DP151) and FS1 on middle

I will try changing the pots first. Thanks for tips!
