Thanks guys. I really was just noodling around with a new camera. That's why I really didn't take the time to clean the bass properly for a real "studio" shot. To be honest though, it's a very hard bass to shoot. I you use the soft light that should be used for a shiney object you lose most of the figure in the wood. Using the very specular light you get all the great figure but you're stuck with those aweful specular highlights. And you don't get the continous highlights on the edges. So I'm actually a bit disappointed in the photographic results. Well from a technical standpoint anyway.
Ha. You guys crack me up. This bad boy is staying put.
Kinda OT but I've had this for about a year and a half and honestly I've just recently discovered how great it is. You see right after I bought it my band broke up. So I only played it in my living room with my practice amp. I kept masaging the set up but didn't play it though my gig rig. Then last Feb I had a bit of a motorcycle accident. Spent some time in a coma. Wasn't supposed to survive. My wife was told to start making "arrangements". Did you guys miss me? Well as you can see I came out of it and am doing fine. But I haven't play any of my basses in quite a while. So the other day I plugged into my gig rig and holy moly what a beast this bass is. Best I've ever had.
Anyway I hope my tale of woe didn't bum anybody out.
Hi Josh, I shot it with a Canon Rebel XSI. I shot it in Raw format did a little post processing in Canon's Digital Photo Professional (DPP) then converted it to Jpeg for the web.
Ok, so you'd think I'd learn something. But nooooooo. Not me. Started riding again after the last nearly fatal wreck. Things were going great. New band, no "issues" left over from the last wreck. I was commuting to work as usual in the predawn hours. Went to pass a car on a rural 2 lane road on the mighty BMW R1200GS. Got it up to about 105, according to the GPS, only to see a tree had fallen across the road. Scrubbed off huge amounts of speed in a really short distance. But not enough. No going left or right around the tree so since I was on BMW's big dirt bike I figured I'd just go over. So I stand up on the pegs and since I'm now in first gear I give it some throttle just to lighten the front some. I almost made it but the freaking tree was multi-trunked. . So, a broken wright wrist, a separated left shoulder and a fractured T-1 vertebrae later made it hard to play bass. Anyway I'm all heeled, again, and things are all good. Just have to get the hand strength back.
