I have almost finished writing the songs for my first solo full length studio album.
I've written 12 songs so far and plan to write 2 more.
Every time a finish writing a song I record a little demo of it to hear how it sounds and to capture the whole idea. I do write out complete arrangements and store the sheets, but recording the song enables me to capture the phrasing and the sounds the way I imagined them while I was writing the song. So when it's time to record the song for the album, I'll pull out that demo recording and remember all the ideas concerning phrasing and sound.

Anyway, I decided to make a demo recording of one of the songs off my upcoming album available as an exclusive download for fellow Knuckleheads.
The name of the song is "Cascading Mirrors" and I hope you'll like it.

I dig it too. Nice composition and really smooth playing. I usually don't care for guitar songs per se, but I've listened to this 5 times so far. I think it's the definitive returning melody, rather than continuous shredding, and even the shredding stays within the melody's context. Nice.

Ivan, is that a JP you're playing, lead and rhythm?

Thanx.
Don't worry, I'll let you all know when the album is out.
By the way, my band will be touring Europe this year and we'll be playing a few gigs in Germany, so I'd be glad to meet you there.

Thank you! Yes, it's a JP, both lead and rhythm.

If you come to the southern area around Munich / Regensburg / Augsburg or surrounding, I'll make sure to not miss out on you ! :)

Thanks for the chance to listen to the song. The JP trem sounds great! Will you be dubbing the rhythm tracks at all? I think doing that during the heavier sections (or even the lighter sections for some stereo effect pans) could really boost the intensity of the song. That's about all I'd say, find a way to boost the intensity a bit more, it's never a bad thing. This is a demo, you say, right?

All in all, on the whole, I think it's a great performance. Nice work and congrats on it! I hope to one day be able to shred like that!

I'll see if I'll dub the rhythm tracks when the time to record the actual album comes.
Yes, this is a demo. I'll record all the songs again for the album.
By the way, you can hear some more of my demo recordings of the songs that will end up on this album on my myspace page: www.myspace.com/ivanmihaljevic

I agree! Lately guitar players tend to overuse technical tricks and forget what a song is all about. Nevertheless, those fast licks that you are playing towards the end of the sond seem to be pretty tricky.

BTW, u should update the gear page at Ivan Mihaljevic

Very nicely done. I really enjoyed it!!! I'll definately get the cd.

Very nice work! I really like it. :)

Thanks guys! The songs on the CD will cover a variety of styles. I'm trying to explore different styles while also leaving my own trademark in every song. What I'm trying to achieve is, whether I'm playing funk, pop or heavy metal, I want all those songs to have some common characteristics.
