Well perhaps you are a little too sensitive, IMO.

I don't know what my sensitivity has to do with the subject, but whatever. I'm sure there are those out there that don't see the point of active basses, or low B/high C strings, or roundwound strings...etc The list could go on forever- I mean, why not leave well enough alone?;) Heck, I recall when there were people upset about the fact EBMM was adding a pickup to the Stingray. Why? You can still get the one pickup classic. What's the harm? I for one am glad that EBMM is looking for ways to improve their classic design(s) and hope they never stop. I'm sorry you took it that I was trying to flame you, that was not my intention. I was simply trying to state that EBMM knows what they are doing and I trust if they make a decision-It's a good one.

Regardless, aren't all new bases being made with the compensated nut from now on? The other thing is, the new pickup options will add 100ish to the price of the new models. I didn't see the price you originally posted, but if you want a dual pickup Stingray, expect to pay more than the price quoted to you.

The Humbucker by the bridge will be the same kind and in the same exact position. In theory, when playing the bridge pickup only it should sound the same as the traditional stingray.

hey buddy,

wlecome to the forum. if you really like how the single pup rays feels and plays then you should totally get one.

As far as the compensated nut goes ... MM is already sending out instruments with the new nut (my new Sterling has one).

As far as the 2 pup models go ... they are pretty sweet. we got to play some at the EB open house and i really liked em. the only thing that sucks about em is that you're gonna have to wait since theyre a new model theyre not on the streets yet. I have read (tho i could be wrong) that the 2 PUPs will be on the streets in January ... so a couple month wait on those.

if you wanna see how the 2 PUPs will work check out this thread:
http://www.ernieball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8760

as you can see there the basses will have a 5 way switch that does all sorts of fancy things :) it is pretty sweet.

Either way, the SR4 - old nut, new nut, 1 PUP, 2 pups - is a tried and true classic and you cant go wrong with it. If i was you id just buy the one youve been eyeing

good luck and welcome aboard
