Having a lot of guitars is a great thing, except that you have to maintain them..and that doesn*t just mean leaving them nicely protected in their cases.I too suffer from GAS,and must confess that I am pretty lazy when it comes to maintenance. But,a few days ago,I decided to do a number on my sil sp..fretboard cleaning, oil, string change. It blew me away..the new strings gave this guitar new life..sounds that I forgot this instrument could deliver...and of course they were EBMM slinkys,BP.I am starting to think that new strings is a lot cheaper than another guitar that I don*t really need.

Hey keep that a secret they're trying to sell new guitars around here:D oh wait I think they make strings too!;)

I know exactly where your coming from, I've kept guitars I was planning to sell after showing them a little TLC before packing them up, But I've also had that felling after showing them some TLC before I hand them to their new owners:( (hey do we have a crying because I made another dumb mistake by selling gear I really enjoyed at a loss SMILEY?)

Oh yes half cock, I agree with you about new strings being cheaper but remember, new guitars come with complimentary new strings!

I just bought a cheap guitar (because Craigslist calls me) which was pretty much new. Would not stay in tune. I pulled the old pencil on the nut and bridge to lube the strings.....stretched the strings and it now stays in tune like a champ and is actually fun to play. **disclaimer**(I keep the balls in cases and a cheap guitar next to the couch for when I want to grab something and so if my kids' friends come by and accidently launch it out the 2nd story window, I won't have to kill them)**

Oh....my point was to not forget the lube when you restring.....
