Just sold some unused gear on eBay and thought I'd buy a new toy.
Got this OLP bass for $127 from a pawn shop in Costa Mesa
Unbelieveable quality; neck is superb; fret job is excellent; very tight neck pocket; electronics sound suprisingly close to a real SR (meaning that it is closer than say a Fender with outboard or amp EQ)
One could easily cut a hit record with an OLP or tour at a Pro level
Completely exceeded my expectations

While it will never replace my 83' Ray (or other active SR), these are amazing basses for the cost and far surpass either of the SX basses I've owned that were also made in China
Highly recommened as a back up if budget is an issue

Congrats on a new bass. I have owned 3 olps and do not care for them. A sub is a much better back up bass IMO. The olp pickups and wiring is well, crap. The necks are okay other than being neck heavy. The fives being worse than the fours. I hate neck heavy basses. They never feel right when you are standing and playing. Now a musicman sub gives you all the quality for a low price. The last sub sterling I owned cost me $250. That is value. I paid under $100 for 2 of the olps. Sorry if I popped your bubble! By the way, this is the musicman forum, not the olp or p bass forum. Sometimes it is hard to tell.

He obviously has no problem with the quality of this particular bass, so I don't see why you think you are bursting his bubble.

Also what the heck is the last line about and why is it relevant to post it in this thread?

Sorry, just my opinion. What thread should I have posted it in?

A. Last time I checked people are able to ask about OLP Musicman or Sterling by Musicman products on this forum.

B. Jim did not ask anything about a Pbass

Therefore I don't see what relevance it had to this thread.

I would love to try one of those OLP's. Just for fun, I have found some cheap basses make great backups. Congrats
