I've owned my 5 string Stingray for 4 years now but it never crossed my mind to look at this forum. Anyways....Played hard rock for a few years and now I'm playing acoustic/singer/songwriter stuff, as well as filling in for other rock or blues bands.

Hello and welcome. I know what you mean - I very happily played my first Ray for 6 or 7 years without knowing about this forum. Ignorant, GAS-free bliss! But those days are long gone. See ya around.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks. Her name is Camille, which I found out later means 'perfect' in French, which is fitting for her. I played a Bongo at Guitar Center that I fell in love with, so that will probably be my next bass purchase, that is after I refinish my 410 cabinet.

I knew I smelled Bongoloid. I almost solicited wagers on it.

I'm a HUGE Ampeg fan. I'm not an Ampeg snob, but in the style I played (hard rock inspired by the likes of Chevelle/Sevendust/Silverchair/Foo Fighters) it's the standard. Unless you want to pay extra extra money to get Mesa.

Back when I was doing sound, ampegs were the standard. Mesa's work good for guitars but not too many on pro bass rigs. Svt's 90% of the time. Rock on!

Dean Bernardini (Chevelle) uses mostly Mesa if I'm not mistaken, and I LOVE his tone on "Vena Sera". That's similar to the tone that I wanted on our last record, but we didn't have the right setup; something to do with the preamps I think??

But the Ampegs have never let me down. I bought the head and 410 cab used February of 2005, and have put heavy wear into them. I'm having to replace the bottom left speaker, and change out the casters, feet cup, tolex etc.

Welcome to the forum.

Nice gear; interestingly enough, besides the smaller cab, you and I share the same amp/bass setup.

I'm trying to sell the 210 and get another 410. The 210 is an HE series and doesn't run the same amount of ohms as the 410, and Ampeg said they don't recommend that. I've heard elsewhere it's ok to do that, and I've used it for 2.5 years now without a problem. Maybe someone can help me with that here??

She takes no offense. The one on the right is named Abby. Back in the day there was a player on the Tennessee women's basketball team named Abby Conklin, so when I bought it I naturally had to name her......Abby Conklin...

Ampeg is right(surprise?) you are running that head at less than 4 ohms which it is not designed to do. It's your rig and you can do whatever you want with it, BUT If you want to add more cabs, I would upgrade the head to something more powerful.

Here's a pic of my new Ampeg:

 is that an SVT VR??????????? If so, I think I just creamed my pants. I had never heard of or seen it until I watched Where The Light Is and Pino Paladino is playing one and it's one of the greatest tones I've ever heard.

I'm planning on selling my 210, and thought about getting a 610hlf but I heard getting the right kind of replacement speakers (something about them being wonky ohms). Then I thought about getting another 410, but was worried about my 350H not being able to push them both at the same time.

It sure is.:) I just got it a couple weeks ago and it's ridiculously awesome. It's heavy but there's nothing like an all tube SVT, IMO.
