Hey all you veteran Luke players...

I just got a Luke, and I couldn't be happier. I've been playing a fat strat for the past 6 years, and I've noticed a couple things.

If I adjust my settings for the bridge pickup, the neck pickup is way too bass-heavy. If I adjust my settings for the neck pickup, the bridge pickup is way too harsh.

So, in a nutshell, I'm surprised at how different these two pickups are.

How do you veteran Luke players deal with these very different pickups? As a side question, do you use the middle pickup very often?

I'm looking forward to being a part of your club!

Hey welcome , is the battery new in the guitar? Doesn't hurt to make sure it's fresh battery.
I have had two Luke's and I have that pickup set in the strat I use all the time and never had that problem.
Always been a great set of pickups with an even sound for me.

ive never touched the pickups , they dont really move anyway? unless u are talking about the Luke 3??

I wasn't very clear - when I said "adjust my settings", I meant my amp settings. So I adjust my amp for the bridge, and the neck is too bass-heavy. If I adjust my amp for the neck pickup, the bridge pickup is too harsh.

I had no issue with the pups eitheir you need to fine tune your amp but I think that the nature of the Neck Pup is to be a litte bit bassy and the nature of humbucker is to be a little bit in "your face" :)

As for the middle pup I use when I play Clapton tune or Camel tune, I like the tone of this pickup

Welcome to the club! The EMG 85 is definitely "in your face", but I've always thought it blended well with the SLV in the neck. Personally, I don't use the middle SLV by itself very often; I like to use it in conjunction with position 4 (neck + middle).

I probably use position 2 (bridge + middle) the least. The 85 seems to overpower the middle SLV when you run them together. When playing with a highly overdriven tone, I can barely tell the difference between positions 1 and 2.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Like all things musical, it's a matter of taste! And chasing tone is rarely, if ever, a plug-and-play endeavor!

I must say, though, I love that humbucker! And the piezo bridge is really quite unbelievable. Did I mention that it plays like a dream? Oh, and I forgot that it's GORGEOUS blue pearl with matching headstock!
