it is a fretless.....now.it had frets, i had them removed and filled. i am a 'training wheels needed' fretless player, lol.... i need the lines, i am not all that on a real blank fretless board, so, i did what i needed to do to make it work for the band. but, i like it, it sounds amazing, but yes, everyone thinks it's fretted, so you are not alone......
