Candy Red apparently is multi guard friendly, definitely digging this Vintage Pearl with it. So I figured some pics were called for. The BA's are smokin' they are a great new slant ( pun intended ) to the already huge arsenal of tone monsters in the family. A double humbucker would round out the line nicely, just saying.

Thanks, the Vintage Pearl guard seems to round out the package. I was thinking of getting the neck tinted but that's off the burner now. Also the new 5H is unbelievable, it was love at first site and then touch. I see it as a Modern Vintage Classic, as it nails both worlds in spades.

I know this is probably impossible to answer, given the SSS tonal options, but how do the SSS & single H differ tonally?

I haven't been able to do an A/B yet but my initial impression is that the H has it's own distinct tone. Fatter comes to mind. While I think the SSS can get as fat it's with a different tonal color due to combining pickups, the H tone is clearly one pickup.
I can say out front for me it's worth having both models. I'm going to order some strings so I can compare the two and even my Ray 35 as an H to H comparison. ( while not a real SR it's damn close). So I'll get back to your question soon. I'm in the middle of a pretty big plumbing crisis, with water heater pipes leaking in the slab my house is built on so it will be a little while to get the house put back together.
