Hi All

Well im sure you can tell from the topic heading that i am a newbie to this forum. Long time reader but first time poster.

Bit of background on me, im 23 from London UK and ive been playing guitar for about 6 years. Im the king of budget guitars and over the years ive gone through many an Epiphone and Squier until selling everything recently for an Olp MM1 (Axis) and MM4 (Silo) which are just the best guitars ive ever played. Having only recently graduated from Uni, obviously my budget is a bit tight so a real Musicman is a bit out of my reach but i just have to gush as these OLP's have given me a taste of the world of Ernie Ball guitars and im hooked!!!!

I went to a guitar show over the weekend and finally got to play the whole EB range from and Albert Lee to an Axis Super Sport. One day id love to own the real thing, and looking at some of the guitars posted by you guys, i can see that is a realistic goal.

Here are some pics of me (scroll to the bottom) playing an Albert Lee and the spanking new OLP Petrucci (which freaking rocked and is next on my wish list)

Glad to meet you all

Regards
Ben

Welcome to the forum Ben! Glad to have another true believer among the ranks... So tell us; what was your favourite Music Man guitar of the range you played last weekend? and why? (6000 words or less, due by next weekend :D )

Yo!

Cool to have another UK-ster on the boards!

Don't sweat the budget thing, I sometimes think that some of these guys are the King of Spain with the gear they have!

Either that or there's a lot of one kidney players around here...

Thanks for the replies guys.

I think my favourite was the Petrucci. Eventhough i loved the OLP version, i could feel the difference in quality in the real Musicman. It just felt like a natural extension of my arms and has gotta be the most comfortable guitar ive played. I loved the Albert Lee too. It looks so awkward but i found it to be very player friendly and comfortable too

As for the OLP Petrucci, again i was really impressed by the quality and it felt quite faithful to the real thing. The neck was definatley thinner than the necks on my 2 OLP's but was very fast and i felt 'at home' pretty instantly when churning out scales all the way up the neck. Obviously there is no birdseye on the neck and overall the guitar is pretty stripped down but it felt great and sounded brilliant. I think im gonna have to add it to the stable

Photos of my guitars are to follow over the next few days so keep your eyes peeled

Until next time.........

Hey there Supernova,

Just wanted to add my "welcome to the
forum" post. I remember when I first posted here, everybody seems so nice so don't be shy.

I also got turned onto Ernie Ball via the OLPs. I bought that Guitar Port package a while back.

And now, I'm anxiously awaiting my "real deal" Petrucci! :)

Take care,
