Hello, greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

This is just a quick post to introduce myself.

I'm a bass player from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and after many years of playing double bass only, I made my way back to its electric cousin.

I've just got my first 4-string electric bass in about 17 years, and yes, it is an EB MM Stingray. And a really nice one, I'd like to add. Near mint. So, as we say here, I'm as happy as a double-tailed dog with it.

By the way, this beauty gets along just fine with my Eden WT600 head. Talking about versatility...

Anyway, I'm happy I've joined the club ;)

Felicitaciones! Que suerte! ?Como lo encontraste? Es un modelo bastante dificil de obtener. Tienes el unico en tu pais? Quiero saber!

Also, bienvenido al foro.......I think I must have had Spanish lessons or something.

Hola Joaquín! Your Spanish is just perfect

I don't know much about this particular bass. I met the previous owner when I bought it (from him) but he got it from someone else a few years ago, so who knows. I can't tell this is the only one around here, but I'm sure this is the only one I've seen so far. In fact, I wasn't aware of the very existence of this limited edition until I saw the add on a sort of local e-bay, which led me to do some research before going for it (which, incidentally, led me to this forum!).

Originally,I was looking for a 5-string Stingray, but I just fell for this one's looks and "pedigree", and once I played a few notes, it was decided, it fells that good. I think there is an SR5 in my future, even though I prefer this one's string distance at the bridge (19mm) over 5ers'. Too bad there's not wide version!

Welcome to the World of StingRay... quite a step to start with the 30th Anniversary, probably the best sounding model that was ever made.... Congratulations! :D

Thank you guys

I really am impressed by this bass' versatility. Sure, it always retain its Stingray character, but the 3-band eQ makes it very flexable. So, there's a bit of knob tweaking to do for me here, although it was fairly easy to find out a nice fingerstyle tone and a nice (great, actually) slap tone.

I've just noticed the unusual plastic nut piece. Do all Stingrays have these? I think the old ones, as far as I can remember, had regular (Fender style, so to speak) plastic ones.
