Hello fellow MM owners. I just purchased my first Music Man yesterday after a long time of wanting. I got an Axis Super Sport and I love it. All I can tell it needs is some Seymour Duncans in it. I would like to know DOB of this thing and Im wondering if someone would mind helping me out. Here's some pics of here.

Very nice and welcome to the board! If you need the DOB there is a sticky and they'll get you the info surprisingly fast! As for switching the pups to Duncans you'd have to ask others because I'm a Dimarzio fan personally.

Let me be the first to offer to buy those stock Dimarzios from you, if you do, in fact, replace them with other pups.

And welcome to the board! Sweet A.S.S.!

Thanks guys for the warm welcome. I finally found the serial number thread thanks. I'm gonna leave it bone stock! I finally got to crank up my Quad Reverb and see how she sounds so no Duncan's for this one. I'm very pleased. The last Music Man I played before buying this one was a EVH model in '94 but I've never forgotten how well it played and decided I had to have an Axis.

Hello and welcome inkedintville,

I am a newbie around here too. Also was a Duncan guy through and through. Maybe still am to some degree.

But..........

I just purchased a new Axis SS (pics coming soon, I promise) and I am starting to come around on these DiMarzios. Had to re-dial in the amps EQs quite a bit, but I am starting to see the light with these pups!

If your ears are used to hearing Duncans like mine are, then there is a natural adjustment period needed to appreciate what the stock pups do well. And they DO a lot of things VERY well! Heck, they were designed specifically for the guitar they are in.

On high gain settings is where I used to feel like most DiMarzio pickups tended to disappear in the mix. Especially in a two guitar Hard Rock band situation. Not with these pickups. I did however find that increasing the mids on the amp helps 'em hit the eardrums with the velocity you are probably accustomed to with the Duncans. Clean tones with them can not be beat IMHO. I am really liking the touch sensitivity they have and how good they back down with the volume knob. Also loving the sustain. Very violin-like and silky smooth, just beautiful!

Give 'em some time and congrats on the new A.S.S. Its gorgeous!
