As a longtime admirer of John Petrucci, and the proud poppa of a 15-yr old guitar player who also happens to be a great son :D, I am seriously considering purchasing a JP6 DD2 that I've had my eye on. Was considering a Mystic Dream but the low production numbers and look of the DD2 are too good to pass up. My question (and hopefully this is OK to ask on the forum), any experience with Uncle Ike's out of Iowa??

Thanks in advance for any advice!

JP6 DDII for a 15yr old? I think he'd be the only one!

EDIT: The store looks to have an almost perfect rating on eBay

hey buddy, welcome to the forum.

I have no experience w/ the dealer you mentioned but there's a warranty with every new MM. MM has top notch customer service so I wouldn't worry too much on a new instrument.

If i were you id: make sure their price is fair, play & inspect the guitar to make sure you like it & if it satisfies your needs just buy it b/c MM's warranty & customer service folks have your back in the rare case that something's wrong.

+1 to what Phatty said. Even if the dealer isn't the best, we all know EBMM definitely IS THE BEST when it comes to Customer Service. #1 American guitar company in my opinion.

Plus, it looks like the dealer has a good seller rating. If the price is right, I'd say go for it. I would have killed for a guitar like that when I was 15. It's a great reward for a deserving teenager.

Don't know about the place, I'd recommend Dubaldo Music, Pete and Nick are the best, and on the East Coast.

Welcome to DuBaldo Music Center!

Good luck, Glenn |B)

You might try pete or jason at drum city, both are respected dealers for ebmm guitars. Thats one lucky 16 year old to have a father like you!

Hey Guys...THis is starting to get out of control...THe question isnt where he should buy this its if you have any experience with uncle Ikes....SO Uncle Ike spends money with me and my forum takes the sale he generated? not fair to uncle ike

Many times now people ask "question for BP" and by the time I et to it 20 people have answered...

The dealer thing is tricky I love Pete and all but I have many dealers who may not frequent here. THey shouldnt be punished

That's a good point BP, people must buy from a dealer THEY feel comfortable with. Besides, with you US knuckleheads buying from the other side of the country at Pete's Palace, it would be for me like I'd buy a guitar in Spain:D

Really Pete, no offence:rolleyes::)

Yes, well said!

I mentioned a dealer that I "actually" bought my Axis from, so I'm partial, however I DO VERY MUCH understand the necessity of a fair playing field for ALL dealers of MM instruments (extremely important!)

And, I think it does give the impression of nepotism if they would in fact read some of our threads.

Made the call

Well, I took the plunge and the JP6 DDII is on it's way... should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday. Now the bigger question, can I wait till Christmas to give it to him???
