Greetings, everyone.

This is my first post, and I thought I'd introduce myself to everyone. I have been a member of the Jackson forum for about 4 years, and the policy for newbies is to introduce yourself in your first thread, so here goes...

I'm 39, and have been playing guitar since high school. Went through a period in my late twenties/early thirties where I didn't play that much, but got back into it in a big way about 5 years ago.

I started playing bass about three years ago, taking lessons for about 2 years from a Berklee grad.

I primarily play Jackson guitars, but I played a JP6 at NAMM two summers ago, and haven't been able to get that guitar out of my head. I am hoping to buy a JP6 before the year is out.

Here's a brief equipment list:

Guitars:
Jackson SLATQH
Jackson RR1T
Gibson EDS-1275
Fender Montera

Basses:
Lakland 55-01
Roscoe SKB-3005

Amps:
Mesa M-Pulse 600 w/ Eden 410XLT cabinet
Zwengel Banshee all-tube head w/ Zwengel 4x12 cabinet.

I thought I'd join this forum, hang around, and learn a thing or two about a brand of guitars I know very little about. Hopefully, by the end of the year, I'll post a picture of a new JP6.

Welcome to the greatest forum on earth!!!!
You'll find this place is not like the others.
I don't know if you've been lurking, but there's all kinds of surprises.
Now that you've bee bitten by the Petrucci bug, you can guarantee that you'll eventually sell your other guitars and basses and convert everything to Music Man. Don't be afraid. It's a good thing!!!! :D

Welcome!! I was taught in my youth by a GIT grad endorsed by Jackson. I wanted a Red Rhoads V like he had w/ emgs humbuckers but found EBMM guitars are the right fit for me. In my old instructor's honor I got my Luke in the same color and fortunately they came w/ emgs (obviously different types).

I too am looking to add a Petrucci to the stable.

Thanks, everyone. I only very recently discovered the forum when I was looking for info about the JP. I shudder to think about what another guitar forum is going to do to my spare time, but I guess I'll just call it "research", as opposed to "vegging out in front of the computer". Doesn't sound so bad that way! :)

Don't worry. It won't take up too much of your time, because you'll eventually stop going to the other ones! :D ;)

Actually, Scott, the EDS-1275 is an 18 stringer! Doubleneck SG, Alpine White, exactly like the one Alex Lifeson from Rush uses on "Xanadu" in the "R30" DVD.

I think I just gave away where my "AlexL" screen name comes from...

Real name is Eric, by the way. :)
