Hey everyone looking to purchase a new
Musicman guitar but need some input. First off I am playing through a Digitech RP500 and will be using it with a Laney PA. I am familiar with the models and features and have quickly tried an axis super sport and a Luke. I am looking to play stuff like the cars, hole, ccr, Evan dando, Eric Clapton etc. I'm looking at either a Luke or Albert Lee (SSS) and I also am getting into jazz as well. I loved the feel of the Luke but I'm afraid the emg will need to be swapped out for emg xs or the albert lee isn't able to handle some high gain stuff. Any thoughts would be welcome

Wow, you have a really large, diverse tonal pallette for just one guitar to fill. I cant think of any guitar on the planet that could accurately cover all those tones spot on though you could get very close to most of them. My opinion, your best bet would probably be any EBMM with an HSS or HSH passive-pickup configuration. Even there I think you are going to have to give a little in one of those areas. Jazz to Hole to Clapton to CCR?

I think I would pick a Silhouette Special HSS in your case. Amazing single coil sounds and still the punch of most guitars out there. I love mine and it was the guitar that turned me onto EBMM guitars.

My Luke BFR is my number one for rock and jazz (mainly fusion). Hard to get the single coil strat sound though without changing the pickups :)

Yep Sil Spec. or luke I love the twang sounds from the sillouette and the luke has some great tones too plus the luke pickups are way easy to switch out. (unscrew unplug, plug in new pickup screw back on and done.) I own a luke and it handles diversity quite well. Active pickups react a little differently to volume and tone controls on the guitar and frankly the tone control on the luke is quite sensitive and has a large sweep so you can be very picky with it. The neck is very warm with the slv pickup and does jazz tones pretty good ( I would expect so Luke is pretty jazzy himself LOL) i've wanted to try a different emg single in the middle to create some more diversity and for that matter the seymour duncan blackouts, (singles and buckers) will fit and plug and play like the emg's too. I guess those are my reasons I like mine and see plenty of room for changing pretty easily and minimal risk. All I can say is get as many of them in your hands and play them and have fun any music man will be well worth your time!!

may I suggest an Albert Lee with MM90 and you will be all set :)

For me in the EBMM range, Axis Super Sport, AL and Luke works very well it's really a matter of what you will like the most tone wise
