the mailman has something special for me today.. my very 1st EBMM guitar
well, as mentioned in a previous thread, I managed to get my paws on a 25th anniversary hardtail with rosewood fretboard and it arrived today..
first impressions.. very well made guitar, great feel and playability (not that used to the neck yet though as my other guitars have pretty hefty necks) but the tone from this beast was something to behold, it had an airiness wrapping each note when playing clean which is probably due to the chambered basswood body, with some gain the guitar tones were sweet, stinging on the neck pickup and yet still had a hollowness and articulation. very nice! can imagine playing all sorts of music on this guitar as I have yet to completely fool around with the series/parallel and various tone options.
It's also very light, a little bit neck heavy given that the chambered body is so light but still very comfortable to play standing or sitting. The quality of the guitar build is top notch and the parts and setup out of the box is great, immediately playable. The birdseye maple neck is gorgeous and plays very fast, though it's a little bit thinner than what I am used to.
All in all, 1st impressions is that this is beautiful guitar with some great tones! It's very loud acoustically and quite resonant, the tones are huge and there is NO trebly icepick coming from the pickups even with the amp set fairly bright and loud. Had to adjust my technique due to the neck and way the guitar sits but all's good! Oh, btw, the quilt top looks fantastic (to me anyway)
Would post a more in depth review once I have played it for bit
Now, on to some pron...
