My search for another EVH guitar ended with getting a japanese Axis EX...so to say, the poormans EVH :)
this thing rocks! Same fretboard size as the original, no belly cut, pu switch in the right position...all original hardware and pickups...just great!

Got a red one, because the price was killer on this on. Got a few dings and dongs, but i want a player and not a collecters guitar, so that's fine for me.

Now here are a few pix of the "mother of all rock guitars" and her daughters. :)

Hey I see you have an olp. Can you comment on how it plays. Currently I have a Chinese copy of an axis and a PRS. I want to sell the PRS and get a real mm guitar. Torn between an axis olp and axis ax4.

the OLP needs some work, after that it's fine.
But it's not like having the real deal...it's still a cheap version...no maple top, just a foto veneer, cheap tremolo -maybe an upgrade brassblock could improve the sound a bit and the tuners should be shorter, they are to high and therefore you loose tension on the nut....
But all those little things can be changed, and you can make a nice rocker out of it...but nothing beats the original EVH!

Btw, can't compare it to an AX-4...just to an AX30...and that one felt totally different...the OLP feels closer to the original as the SBMM AX30 - at least, for me!
