New member - greeting all - and of course, the unfortunate passing of EVH piqued my interest ... again ... in the MM EVH guitars.
Could've bought one back in the day at dealer cost (friend owned a music store in Vegas) but... anyway, I saw this and it was local.
Finishing a master bath remodel and I couldn't really afford it but figured what the heck, go play it and go from there... fell in love, she was just a smidge under market value so I grabbed her!
That was over a week ago and I haven't put her down - such an amazing guitar, they really did a great job on these, she keeps up quite well with my Fender Cunetto Relics & Gibson Historic Les Pauls.
Love the flame - never was a big fan of quilt - and that burst is just beautiful!
I do prefer double creme p/ups so I'll be installing an Air Norton & Tone Zone down the road; I'm a bit reluctant because the stock p/ups sound so good.... guess I can always reinstall the stock units if they don't sound as good!

Welcome and congrats! What a nice one! I say leave those pickups right where they are. No better sounding pickups anywhere on the planet IMHO :).

Are you sure those are the stock pickups? It's also possible that someone put covers on the pickups because they liked the look. You can always take the covers off, unless they were wax potted with the covers on.

@tbone - I seem to remember GC had a run of Axis' back in the day with chrome pickups. I think this may be one of those.

Thats what the seller told me, it was a special run for GC.
Her build date is two weeks before my birthday so yeah, it was meant to be!!

Personally, I'd keep them with the covers on. The Tone Zone an Air Norton are the closest thing to the original Axis pickups, but they won't sound the same.

Now I've gotta start the long countdown to when I'll be able to get an axis in the color I want.
