Hey all, very new to the forums (first post) and I'm hoping someone can help me answer a few questions about a recent acquisition.
I owned a JP6 a few years ago and considered it at the time the finest guitar I had ever touched. Ended up parting with it after a life changing break up and have been mostly content to gaze longingly at the EBMM website from time to time.
Fast forward a few years and I decided to part with a few Gibsons I had acquired to get some new gear for a current project. A few weeks ago I walked into GC and found a SM Y2D in th used section in near mint condition. Traded in a LP I had purchased for a steal and walked out with it for a total cost of $1250. (Trade converted all of it with some left over)
Really fell in love with the pickup layout and the location of the volume knob for pinky swells. Started perusing the GC website and one day a SM Dark Lord popped up in the used section for $1500. I called the store, got confirmation that it was in excellent condition, and with a chunk of my tax return burning a hole in my bank account I pulled the trigger on it. Ended up at $1600 after tax and shipping.
It arrived today, fantastic condition, hang tags still in the case. This particular guitar says Limited Edition on the neck plate and it has the BFR logo at the 12th fret. It did not come with a COA and there was no signed backplate. I've read that units with the BFR logo are from the original 70, but I honestly have no clue. Can anyone clear up if my guitar should have originally shipped with a COA and its just lost?
I'll post pics tomorrow when I take them, I know an NGD thread isn't actually real without pics.
Thanks in advance everyone!
