NGD: Game Changer HSHp w/ tremolo

Good grief this thing is more awesome than I even thought it was going to be! Ever since these came out, I have been so blown away by what they do that I have wanted one. I had sold off some gear recently and was able to acquire this.

I am mainly a bass player but need to start learning guitar again so I can teach my son. I also really like playing guitar too but I suck at it right now.

One question though. Since this is my first Music Man guitar, can someone explain how the locking tuners work? Do I lock them first and then tune the guitar or do I tune the guitar first and then lock them? I know, stupid question but I am honestly not sure how they work.

Jay, congrats. Loosen the locking nut, pull the string thru, lock the tuner, trim it close to the post, tune from there.

Yep. The beauty with locking tuners, in addition to faster string replacement, is that you tighten the string with the lock and no wraps. The wraps cause detuning as the wrapping adjusts around the peg during the lifetime of the string. So less wrapping, better, or with locking tuners, no wrapping, more stability. I usually drag the string as much as I can and then lock the tuner.

She's a beauty, Jay. I think it's great that you're teaching your son. From experience please allow me to suggest that you set aside a lesson time and stick with it add if it we a scheduled lesson in a shop. Otherwise, life seems to get in the way, and you miss lessons.

Thanks all for your kind words and advice! Zach and I had our first practice together tonight. It is tough in some areas though. He is 10 and his hands are still kind of small so he is having a hard time with finger dexterity and reaching all of the notes. He is then getting frustrated real easy but I am trying to make it fun for him so if he starts to get to frustrated I let him play a few minutes of just banging away at his guitar playing nothing but letting him pretend he is rocking out pretty good. That seems to help. He also likes playing on my amp too. That seems to motivate him as well. Especially if the distortion is on. He definitely has my genetics in that aspect. He smiles and giggles as soon as that first note is played.
