Well, I had known about a store that had this for a while and decided to finally pull the trigger. Its a BFR Axis in trans black with rosewood board! Got it on clearance for a crazy steal!

And this is my new amp! My gf got me the 5150 III as a late christmas gift the other day. Went out with a buddy of mine yesterday with the intentions of picking up an orange 212 cab. I had one of these heads before with the matching 212 and I felt the evh cab was very cheapish feeling. We headed up to the boston gc. I didn't bring my head bc I felt the 6505 is close enough. The salesman hooked it all up and I was impressed with the orange, Out of the corner of my eye though I see a small clearance area( I am the king of deals lol!) and notice a 212 cab tucked away. I bring the guy over to ask him about it and turns out to be a PRS cab marked from 700 to 279! It has 2 vintage 30's just like the orange.I ask him specifically if its an import or US made cab and he says its an import. We plug it in and it doesn't matter, it smoked the orange cab in every way! When I get it home I'm curious why an import cab would originally have been selling for 700 and track down this exact cab on their website. Turns out this is indeed made in the USA! Its their stealth big mouth cab. Im not sure if gc made a mistake on this one as there is also an import version of this cab which retails for 379,which would make sense for that one to be clearance for 279,not a $700 cab. The 2 are easy to tell apart, the import has the logo all spelled out where the USA made cabs have the signature.
They had one more and I might go grab that one this weekend. A lot of people compare this to the mesa 212 but this one feels better made. I love it! The 5150 sounds sooooooooo good through this cab and Im glad we decided to go to boston to dick around

Well came in yesterday...wasn't as described. They also said it had the original bfr case and charged 200 for it on the receipt but just came with a ebmm plastic hardshell case and no case candy...

Huh? What was it's condition?

It just has more store wear than they described. One very specific question I asked, is it "new condition" or does it have play wear from being on display. They said it was new but have some nice dings and light scratches throughout. The board is very dried out, Im guessing from not being played for so long.
Nothing wrong on Ball's side, This is a beautiful instrument, I just thought I was getting something in new condition with the original bfr case.
Tone Wise, actually very different from the tribute. I do personally prefer the tone of the tribute as opposed to this one. Cool guitar but may be going back for another "new"(like I want) tribute.

hmmm, that's too bad, but you could bring the board back to health easily. It sounds like the guitar would benefit from some time in a room with a humidifier. The ebmm fretboard wonder wipes are my favorite product for rejuvenating a fretboard. So lemony.

The BFR is less common than a tribute and some tonal variety in your arsenal might be really refreshing and enjoyable.
