EDIT - It arrived!!!! See below for my review post and a few pics.

Well - took a plunge and traded in some stuff to get this. The deal was too good to pass up on a nearly mint Y2D. This will be my one and only MM for the foreseeable future. It should arrive early next week. I can't wait to play it. :D

Update - going to be Tuesday before I get my Y2D. This wait is the worst!!!! I know it will be worth it but that doesn't make it any easier!! :)

Man, what a 5 day wait. It was pure torture as I traded in all three of my guitars to get this beauty (including the white Reflex which I really like a lot). So, watching my UPS tracker like a hawk I was stoked when it finally showed the guitar as delivered yesterday morning :). So, I raced over and picked it up from GC. The nice folks there took great care of me. I wanted to test it out while still in the store to make sure there were no issues with it. Aside from a few very light scratches on the back near control cavity cover and normal pick guard scratches the guitar is mint. The guitar was out of tune badly as they backed out the fine tuners on the trem as per SOP when they ship it out (it was shipped to my local store from another location). I tried to tune it myself but was having issues with it. So, I took it over to Gil - their outstanding guitar tech. He spent about 30 minutes with it getting it right. Great guy who really knows his stuff. He basically had to intonate it and set up the floyd properly as well. Whoever owned it previously had taken off the trem cover and messed with the trem and the intonation. He also gave me some pointers as to how to change the strings (block the floating trem) and adjust the trem screws properly if I decide to put 10's on it (which is the gauge I prefer over the 9's on it currently). Great guy.

Now - on to the guitar itself. After owning a beautiful white Reflex hardtail for the past year I was looking for something different (GAS got the best of me I'll admit). I'm a huge VH fan (big surprise there given my username :)) and as so I love the locking trem and the fun and different sounds that come with it. As I have pretty large hands I really liked the 12" radius of the Reflex and wanted to stay with that radius. The Morse seemed like a logical choice as it has both 12" radius and a locking trem. Throw in a great 3 pickup combo and absolutely stunning finishes and the Y2D was it. After playing what I thought was the most comfortable guitar ever (Reflex) I wondered if the Morse could hang with it in that regard. Wow - does it ever! An absolute dream to play and easily as comfortable as the Reflex. The neck is absolutely ridiculous. I took a few EBMM wonder wipes to it and it is stunning to say the least. It has been years since played a rosewood fretboard so I was a little worried about how that would feel. No issue whatsoever. Smooth as silk. The pickups on this thing go from screaming growling mayhem (bridge pickup) to a nice stratty quack with the middle pickup and everything in between. The purple sunset top makes me smile when I look at it and is inspirational to look down at while playing. Sorry for the long post but I guess I had a lot to say today :). Here are some pics:

Move over - I need the drool bucket too you know! :)

I actually had TWO Purple Sunset Y2Ds, until I swapped one with Siddius here for another Neptune Blue "Standard" - they are INDEED a great guitar - but now we need to hear it!

I'll get on the recording piece after I've worked more on my technique and chops. I have a LOT of practicing to do. Talk about being inspired thanks to this guitar...!!!! :)

Oh - one more thing - who has the SMOC membership cards??? I'm in need of one :).

Congrats on the Y2D and the Purple Sunset finish is one of my favorites. Your guitars body is pretty identical to mine except I have a stoptail. If you don't mind what were the other two guitars you traded along with your white Reflex?

Hey Straycat nice to see you around! I traded in a SBMM AX40D and a Takemine acoustic that was gathering dust.

Good to see you to Ed! Okay it makes sense now and you will really be ripping it up on the Y2D, as there isn't much that axe can't do. If the single coil interferes with your picking just lower it as when I got mine I looked at Morse's and he has the single coil low in the guitar.
