HOLY SH*T this guitar is amazing!!

I have a long history with Ibanez. Lots of em and always loved em. I joined a band last year and needed a 7 string. Oddly I had sold my old 7620 about a year before after having it over 10 years. I had been looking at the MM petrucci models for awhile, but hesitant on spending that much.

I settled on a Sterling JP70 at the time and put a Crunchlab and Liquifire in it. It sounded ok, bit flabby and very mid present for my preference. Played good for a cheaper guitar. I gig with a Mark V so it helps make up for it :D

I sold a Les Paul custom I had a while back and been looking and waiting for the right MM JP model to come around. Figured for what I wanted to spend, I would get a JP7. Fortunately my patience paid off and I stumbled upon a JP13 at a killer price and I pulled the trigger.

It came in yesterday and didnt have time to do much with it. I got up early today and built a quick block for the trem before band practice this morning and went for it. The difference is astounding!! It plays so well, the SS frets are quite a pleasant surprise!! The guitar is so much tighter and still fat and big sounding. The other guitarist, besides being awestruck staring at the guitar was not used to getting crushed in the tone dept by me at rehearsals (use amplitube at practice) His 7 string has emg's and is quite tight. I was amazed at what I could do with this guitar and how easy it is to dial a tone in for. I twiddled the eq and gain a bit, and it was THERE. I dominated today!!!

I am the lead guitarist and always had to have a serious boost for my leads, but this cuts so well and with the onboard boost, it did the job for practice. The band kept looking at me and smiling and then complimenting me on how much different and better it sounds. Picking seems so much easier and nice clarity. I am stoked with the tonal variations as well.

The craftsmanship is outstanding, playability is wonderful, and the tone for me is great. I have no complaints except for the fact I want a 6 string version now!!

I had stopped by the MM booth a couple times at Namm in January to check out the Majesty. I LOVED the neck on it, but preferred the more traditional body style, needing 3 9v, and since its the first year/model I figure it has some morphing and improving to do. I sure I will end up w one eventually, but for now the 13 is all I hoped for and more.

Congrats! My JP13 7 is my third favorite EBMM (which sounds bad but is actually a HUGE compliment since they're ALL amazing).

Tell me: Do you not sit there and just run your hands all over its body like it's a slick BMW? Am I the only one? I LOVE the JP13's curves :)

I'm also single, so that might explain a few things...

Yea, that's my fav; but I am in the honeymoon phase with my new AL though so it's number two (lol #2) making the 13 #3 (also it's my oldest & first EBMM). But it's still in front of my SIGNED JPXI :)

Does the XI have a skinnier neck profile than the 13. Just curious. That is the one thing that I dont like about the 13. I say that though the neck is not bad or like trying to shred on a Les Paul custom, but I like the necks skinny and flat!!

Congrats! I think it's one of the best guitars EBMM have made. The rosewood fretboard is a little silly, but it's a small concession when everything else is so great.

I think the XI neck is a bit skinnier than the 13. Hard to tell for sure though since my XI is a 6-string and my 13 is a 7-string. And honestly, I think when done right and good wood is selected, rosewood actually is more desirable than ebony. I feel like it's got more personality. Ebony is nice, but black is just black. Rosewood has all sorts of cool grains, color variations from one guitar to the next... Man, I saw this Su*r at a local music shop that had the a rw fretboard that looked like fine silky hair. It was nuts! But I love the rosewood on my 13 and my AL, but YMMV.

haha it's probably still there. If I make it downtown sometime later this week, I'll snap a few iPhone puh-hoe-toes of it if the shop owner isn't looking. Maybe I'll start a small grease fire in his acoustic room so I have time :)
