Let first just say that this is one incredible guitar. As an owner of a JP13 7, it feels and sounds instantly familiar. I can't tell the difference in tone. But I LOVE the neck on this bad boy. Here's some pron:

So what's to explain? Well, somebody *ahem* wired the pickup selector switch backwards! Not the biggest issue in the world, since the PCB the switch is attached to is well-labeled, but my question is, how in the eff did this pass inspection at EBMM and Sweetwater when I noticed it was wonky in less than a minute?!?! In any case, I plan to use this mainly in the studio, so that's not a huge issue, just a little head-scratcher.

Otherwise, it's fantastic. I've been lusting after these since NAMM. The neck looks and feels buttery smooth. This guitar is one that I plan on handing down to someone on my deathbed.

Congrats bro these are really awesome! I have on clue how they would wire the pickups backwards. I mean the PCB tells you what colors go where lol. Unless they wired it up upside down and didnt notice and then flipped the switch around?

It's mind-blowing. I opened the cavity and sure enough, the neck pup is attached to the bridge pups terminals and vice versa. Mistakes happen. But how did no one catch it through multiple QCs? I was reading Sweetwater's 55-point evaluation and it's true: not one of them is "make sure the guitar was assembled & wired correctly" lol. I guess so long as there was signal in every toggle position, they were happy. If they bothered to plug it in at all.

I will say, though, that the wiring is very nicely done, however incorrectly it may be. It's nice that everything is labeled so well. At first I was thinking that MAYBE the pups were wired correctly, but installed incorrectly - but even the leads are labeled "B" and "N" and are coming from the correct holes so I can banish that thought :)

EDIT: sorry I just reread your post; it's not possible to have flipped the switch around. It's attached at one end to a PCB and all the terminals are on the other end (on the left):

I'm sure it will be. I just have this kind of luck. 2 of my last 3 guitars ordered had this problem. The other one was a Kiesel Vader V8. I guess all companies seem to be having QC issues lately. I guess it's difficult to remain focused and devote 100% to every instrument when you do it day in and day out. I think we've all been guilty of being a little complacent at our jobs every now and again. I just gotta find someone to fix it now or buy some stuff to do it myself...

As far as ergonomics, high-techiness, and the "cool factor" goes, the majesty wins. As far as classiness, tone, feel, and sound, I like the JP15. I was fortunate enough to play a couple 15s at NAMM, and the short convo I had with JP was about why the anniversary models are superior to the Majesty. I just like the weight behind the notes, if that makes any sense. While the Maj felt amazing, and sounded great, I just don't feel it had as much balls as the 13 and 15. And boy does the 15 have balls in spades.

That said, I feel like when I get all my student loans paid off, I'm gonna reward myself with a Artisan Majesty in Maronne.

The other trouble with Majesties is that in humid weather, the big inlay is prone to loosening/clouding. EBMM would have happily fixed this, but that's still downtime and half of shipping costs. Of course, I may be the only one with that problem...

Long story short, for just pure playing joy, I'd pick the 15 any day.
