I had originally written the JPXI off thinking I wouldn't find the new neck profile comfortable. However, when I saw one in my local GC my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to give it a whirl. I was sold on it in pretty much the first minute! It now occupies the spot on my wall closest to my amp ;) Being my first Piezo guitar, I need to find a decent acoustic amp now though...

Can you post some picks of the neck profile, mainly side views. I am thinking of picking up a JPX model; either the JPX or JPXI depending on the neck profile. How does the neck feel in comparison to your Charvel and Ibanez guitars?

I really dig the color on those guitars - so pretty! Nice score - how about the tone? Was it what you expected?

Thanks for the comments guys!

The back contour feels similar to the Charvel actually although the fretboards/frets are TOTALLY different. I ran home at lunch and snapped a few quick pics while I was there (iphone pics, sorry). I kept the phone right up against the neck of the next guitar so they would all be exactly 24" apart. I can get better pics tonight if you'd like more or from different angles. I'm willing to take all the pics anyone wants since the neck was my biggest concern prior to buying mine and I had trouble finding enough info/pics online. Luckily I had one local I could go play. One thing to note is that the Ibanez is an RG-PR1 which doesn't have a Wizard neck like most but has what they call and "Ultra" neck which is a little thicker/rounder than a Wizard. The JS (not pictured) has a neck very much like a Modern C Strat neck.

Thanks, it's definitely better in person and especially in good lighting. I didn't like the color until I saw it in the store, now I love it. It's the same with my Charvel too. The sound is awesome! It's definitely different than the basswood JP6 I had. The lead sounds are easily just as good (although slightly warmer maybe? I wish I could A/B them, could be in my head) and I find I can get a better heavy Rhythm out of the JPXI for some reason. I'm a huge fan of the body shape though.

Thanks for the pics. Some from the other side maybe with your hand on the neck or near it would be awesome. Right now I'm torn between the JPX and JPXI. My hands are most comfortable on ESP Thin-U and Jackson/Charvel necks. Ibanez necks on the other hand are either too thin or too wide and cause my hand to cramp when I play them. So which ever one is closest to my ESP JH-600 and Jackson SLSMG in feel is the one I am going to get. Man I really wish I can get my hands on both models to try out but I can't find a store that carries those models anywhere nearby.

I'll try to get pics tonight and will go back and forth between it and the Charvel to see if I can describe the differences in feel.

Dibs if you ever want to part from that RG-PR1 now....;).
I don't think I could bring myself to sell it even if I don't play it often. I'm too afraid I'd regret it and seeing as they only made 12 it would be difficult to find another, much less in this condition ;).

It not so much that the JPXI is thinner than it seems to have a slightly different carve. Flatter than the standard JP carve. That coupled with the larger radius gives it a different feel, but to me the difference was marginal.

Just got my XI. Love it, finish is awesome, neck is awesome, frets are awesome...

Now I've gotta wait to get back to Australia so I can plug it in!
