Hello everybody,
After a long wait of over twelve months, due to variety of unforeseen circumstances, I finally collected my 2014 PDN Luke. Pictures will follow when I manage to put it down for another other than eating and sleeping.

My problem is I really need a different amp but funds won't permit a Bogner Ecstacy. Has anybody had any experience with the Bogner Ecstacy Blue or Red pedals. I still want the touch sensitivity of a valve/tube amp and I use the volume and tone controls instead of channel switching.

Any and all advice appreciated. After numerous years I realise that I'll only get my own sound, nobody's else's, but I would like a tone similar to Luke's, ha ha ha!

I love Rivera Chubsters and I have a Clubster which is incredible. You can also go "old school" Luke and get a Radial Trimode pedal. You can get some very tasty tones with one of those.

I used the Bogner red pedal for quite a while on the clean channel of a Blackstar HT40. For my taste it sounded great. Big fat juicy mids that put a smile on my face. FWIW

Yes those Bogners pedals are nice and you could get used Bogner Ecstacy or Shivas for maybe $1.5k if you look around. Nice but loud! I prefer most of the time a max 25W amp for many gigs. I really like my Mesa Boogie Mini Rectifier that in my ears sound 85% Luke when keyed in.

Thanks for the advice chaps.
It's a choice between an 'amp-in-a-box'; Bogner Ecstacy Red/Radial Trimode or a small valve/tube amp. I'm hoping that running a smaller amp at a high volume will overcome the fizziness of high gain pre-amps. Boutique equipment is not so easy to test in the northern part of the U.K. so a tone adventure may be needed. Surely Luke doesn't need three Ecstacys on stage, maybe he'd let me have one of them.

I love my Bogner Ecstacy Red and have been meaning to get the blue one day. If you can find one used, they can be gotten really cheap.

For a long time, I really wanted a CAE 3SE+ but have kinda given up on that quest. Wish they made something like that in a pedal!

I really like the blue pedal. I have a very compact rig that I use for pit orchestras that consists of a few overdrive pedals, a chorus, two delays, and reverb. All of that goes into a Quilter Tone Block which is a tiny 4 lb amp that sits on my pedalboard.

If you want a whole new setup i would HIGHLY recommend checking the Quilter stuff out. If you already have a good clean platform, that blue pedal is hard to beat. It might also be worth looking at the Tech 21 OMG pedal. It is very touch sensitive and responsive to volume/tone on the guitar. It also has a built in boost that can be used independent of the overdrive.

You could always look into a kemper or axe fx but it's not for everybody.

I've increased the height of the pickups which has massively increased the output and IMO improved the tone of the guitar however it's the actual tone of my amp I'm unhappy with. It's a Carvin XV112 and it's too Marshally.
To be honest, my idea of guitar tone is something I've struggled with for years, I'm really beginning to think that it's my fingers I'm unhappy with. I do have very fond memories of a Mesa Boogie DC-5 which I never should have sold, ah well such is life.

Keep your neck oiled and your tubes alight.

If you're after a Luke type tone, he told me (via Facebook) that he uses the Blue channel more than the red. So if I had to pick a Bogner pedal based on that, I would pick up a Blue.
