It's an older model before they started using the locking tuners. I'm pretty sure it's got a different bridge too.

I'm uncertain of the dates of changes on Sil Spec's, but some of these eBay guitars lately look dicey to me. I don't know that MM used Grovers before locking tuners, but perhaps they did. Yes, the bridge is very different, and mounted with vintage style 6 screws. And yet, it has the newer cutaway neck joint and plate. And $925 BIN?

Candid_X, it's an older Silo Special, probably one of the first years that they made the Silo Special. They did use Grovers before the lock tuners that they have now. It is the older style bridge.

They looks funny maybe because they are so very different from what they have now?

Anyway it looks 100% legit. Get the serial number from the seller and email customer service to find out the guitar particulars and DOB.

what's cool about it

what is really cool about this early Spec is the neckplate has the original Music Man log engraved on it. it's what I really like about the sub 1s , painted right on the headstock

those two dudes with MM guits one is right handed and the other is a lefty

I love that logo

Oh, I'm not interested in buying it, Glenn. I'm just a detail sorta guy when it comes to this stuff.

If this is one of the original models, why then the cutaway neck pocket and plate? I've seen early model Sils with 6 bolts, which if memory serves had the current MM bridge and plain Schallers.

Anyway, I hope we can get the straight scoop on the Silo Changes thread.
