Hey Casey 2
Doesn't say where you are from, so I can't make fun of you for going to scandinavia;-)

But if you should come, and still frequent this board at the time, give me a shout and we can have a beer:)

Well, in July when it gets to be around 105 degrees and smoggy in LOS ANGELES CA, the Lady & I hope to be visiting Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and St. Petersburg- so if/when it happens- I'll buy the beer!

Cheers! (Skoal?) :D

Gordon of Eden, I'm sorry to hear of your recent GC shopping experience. We're good at a some things but not as good as we could be at others. Still there's no excuse for bad customer service.

The point is, now as it was in 1995, it all comes down to training.

Thanks Ed.
I usually don't even start things like this, I just move on but I have always enjoyed shopping at GC no matter where I have lived or worked throughout the country.
I do intend to keep going there and I do appreciate you reading my post.

I've not been comming to this forum very long but I have been playing and enjoying EBMM basses for years.

My compliments to BP, I think it's awesome that you and the guys over there participate here. You really pay attention to what the people who use your instruments think and it shows in the final product.

It's obvious that making fantastic instruments is not your job, It's just what you do!
Thanks to all for your input,
Dave

I understand the scandinavian bit, but St Petersburg isn't exactly next door you know, and not very scandinavian either;-)

Capt...please stop your usual BS. I alerted you to hijacking and you respond with frowny faces and Pleeeease....

Talk bass is great for your history lessons regarding Warwick and Framus...not MY forum. You need to remember that you are a guest here and not a moderator. Dont send me long letters either as I threw the first one out.

Believe it or Music Man is feeling the effects of the economy greatly. Thank god for strings and accessiories.
I have never had a lay off in the companies history but most managers would by now. I plan on keeping the crew intact through increased personal investment. Im not panicking and dont want you guys to. Just the facts

This is why it is important that a thread that points out from multiple customers a lack of service, knowledge and selection of our products at our biggest customer Guitar Center is timely and really important and why I dont like Aussie Mark using it as a warwick bashing tool or Moto then deciding that it is a good time for him to educate us about the history of our competition.

True, they blow.

Of course you are entitlied to your opinion; however, I USED to be a W****** player and really they are not that bad (they have their own unique tone). Ever since I discoved MM basses I never looked back and I would choose my MM over my thumb 100 times over, however (in my own humble opinion)i'm not sure that it's fair to say that those basses blow.

Please stop the warwick bs. SOme people should edit themselves as they are ruining a critical thread. See above

Sorry BP, didn't mean to cause any problems.............Anyway, you know it would be nice to be able to go into GC and play a Bongo, I think that it's a bass that you have to try out to really feel the awesomeness and power this thing has to offer.

I hope GC finds a way to turn this around.

St. Petersburg is part of our planned guided itinerary, comes after a cruise crossing from Finland(?) I THINK-
Me I'd prefer to just GO! and do whatever, bu M'Lady likes to be guided, see the Palaces, and Museums, etc. and she is what Vacation is about..
(She teaches High-School Calculus and NEEDS a vacation far more than a wastrel bass-player like yours truly!)
Hope we make it there, we've traveled a lot of the World, but Scandanavia is one place we've not been; I hear the BEER is superb!

Sterling-If I may call you that, Mr. Ball!
Kewl!
Not tryin' to cause a shooting war, nor defend ANY brand from another- In the end, who cares??! What someone else says- they're not playing 'it" it's my bass. And I understand also the tongue-in-cheekiness too, it's all part of big-fun here, a good thing.
Personall, I've heard so much ridiculous "gear-bashing" on other boards where they "talk bass" for instance, this Forum in my view- Is better than that!
Nuff said!

.....back on GC, I think (uneducated Mississippi boy that I am) that it's an observance and laziness thing with service.

I don't understand why they would want anything else, but not everybody goes in GC to buy a Music Man, or EB strings or straplocks.

Believe it or not folks, some people like Schallers.

It's a matter of observing simple body language to know what a customer wants. Having worked a bit in a music store as an untrained employee, it's really not that hard. If they're looking at something, and they look like they want to know about it, tell them. If they look like they want to be left alone, say: "let me know if you need anything" and go straighten out some strings or polish that stratocaster for the 8th time. Just make sure they know that they can interrupt you.

The guys in Jackson knew this. I walked in, was greeted, asked what I needed, and directed to the basses. About 5 minutes later, somebody walked over and asked if they could help me. I said yeah, I'd like to try this cab with this head, and I need an instrument cable. They made it happen.

Corprus was lazy. They took one look at me and then went on smoke break. No passion for the instruments, only for playing them at the gigs.

Every customer is different. That's why you need a knowledgeable, observant, friendly staff.

I think everybody in the store should play and understand the basses/guitars on the wall, as well as the amps, drums, etc.

It's pretty easy as long as you are interested in them.
