Well, AI broke my right arm this weekend engaging in another passion (mountain biking). I'm in a right angle splint and likely a right angle cast due to the break. So, no guitar and slow typimg for a while. oh well. it will make me long for my ebmm's!

Bummer. I broke my wrist skateboarding many years back less than a year after i got my first electric guitar. A strat. Right angle cast on right arm. Put a fair amount of dings and chips in the guitar during those three months with the cast bashing the guitar.

Try to keep playing with only one hand(assuming that you're not a lefty). If you can manage to keep your right hand out of the way, you can still maintain some dexterity with your left hand by forming chords. It's frustrating, but rewarding in the long run.

Yep...been there as well not too long ago. Broke my right hand. I still practiced though. Just using the left hand doing hammer on pull offs, chording, legado and what not. It actually helped me to my disbelief. Hope you heal up soon bro!

I feel your pain. But anything as fun as mountain biking comes with some risk. We all need physical fitness though, so it's worth it.

I shattered my right forearm a few years ago racing motocross. It was really hard giving up racing and guitar for about 6 months. The really good news is the new high tech metal forearm is almost as good as the old school "vintage" bone one was, so I'm back enjoying both now. I'm sure you will be soon too! Keep your chin up!

Though a news story i read a few weeks back about metal replacements (hip and knee in this case) were seeing higher incidents of problems due to metal particles getting into bloodstream. A problem much less common when older models using more plastic was the norm. Cant recall where i read. Maybe google it. Hope your situation is not affected.
Sorry for hijack but it seemed an important medical story as lots of replacements are being done these days.

Mitch,

Man hope it is a minor break and heals fast, yea need the excercise but have to be cautious, injury is why my wife made me stop playing A level softball, too much on the body and I could never get into 50+ league ball to tame:D

Get well soon my friend:)

Sorry to hear about your arm! Had my share of injuries from various types of sports and my advice would be to give it some time and rest to heal up properly. Exhausting your fingers might not contribute to the healing process but it would certainly be a good idea to talk to your physician about what's possible or not. Wish you a speedy recovery mate! :)
