Help! No Lefty SR5 HH?

I have been gassin for an SR5 for awile and I decided to stroll into the local shop to see about ordering a custom lefty SR5 HH. The sales guy called his EBMM rep and was told that they will not make a lefty with HH, only the standard H configuration. Is this true? If so, why?

This is a small shop, and I don't think they have EVER had a lefty EBMM in stock. They are close to my home, which I why I chose them to order from.

That might be correct, I just checked Psyho Ward and he doesn't own any 2 pich up SR5's, well except for the 20th anni which is a one off on order because Sterling promised to make one for him

If it is true, sounds like another case of lefty discrimination to me. I don't see what the big deal would be. I would be waiting 4 months for a single H anyway. It's not like I am asking for a production run.

EBMM is really great when it comes to accomodating lefties, but you have to realize we're only about 10% of the population, and many many (like me) play righty, so you guys are in a serious minority here.
That said, why not try a Bongo? That is what you should do, and if you search deep within you you will realize that I speak the truth

Well, yes you are...asking for a production run...essentially.

There are no production runs. Every EBMM made is one that someone orders from the list of options that are available...available meaning what the factory is tooled for. Every added option means more tooling, adds more time to the backlog, and takes up more space at the factory. So to keep the factory running efficiently, options have to be limited.

And as Strummer pointed out, those options are determined by sales, not because you didn't learn to play the "right" way...

Nope, definitely NO maple boards on Bongos, but try one anyway, they're addictive as hell

The Bongo currently is the only model that can be ordered left handed with the single H, the H/H and the H/S, (but no piezo option). You can order any color (except Stealth) and have the fretboard fretted, fretless lined or blank plank.

EBMM offers us lefties more choices than anyone in the business! Which explains why I own so many, plus they are killer basses. I highly recommend the Bongo, but even though I have all three pickup configurations the single H is currently my favorite. Get one, you won’t be sorry!!!

As a Musicman fan I agree with most of the sentiments on this forum, I must say this one isn't strictly correct. My son is a leftie and thanks to me, and also Flea! is an MM fan, and thus plays a leftie Stingray.

However he wants a dual pick up leftie and is looking at another manufacturer who seems to provide a lot of its range in laft hand config - now the Bongo might just get the order - a leftie dual pick-up Stingray would definitely!

EBMM caters for lefties as well if not better than some famous bass manufacturers but leftie dual pick-up Stingrays would sure be good!!

I will give props to the abundance of MM lefties. Just seems odd that the SR5 doesn't have the HH option, but the Bongo does. I am starting to lean more towards a Bongo now.

Just to close the loop on this thread, I did finally pull the trigger on a lefty Bongo 5.

You were all right, this is an amazing instrument. Now I just need to stop twiddling with the knobs!
