Well, after the long wait I am proud to say that I am the owner of an SR4 Honeyburst Unlined Tort. :D :D :D GC called and I picked it up straight away!

First off (and most importantly) it sounds and plays like no other bass I've ever owned. This baby sings!!!!!
Also, I haven't played a lot of fretted MM basses, but somehow the neck feels thinner and faster than the fretted ones I remember picking up at GC. I'll have to revisit that.

Next, it's visually stunning. Beautiful finish! Also, only approx 8-1/2 lbs.

On the good side they installed flats on for me N/C :)

On the bad side I wanted and ordered EB strings but he forgot to order them and had to settle for D brand. Not the end of the world but I wanted to hear the EB strings on an EB bass.

Now I know it's no picture no bass. But when I tried to upload, it said I was over my 100kb limit. I hate taking pictures and take really poor ones to boot, but this old crappy digital camera can't be putting out such high tech stuff. Help please!!

Thanks to all at EBMM and BP for making such a great product. Can't wait for other people to hear how sweet this instrument sounds!:D :D

Any of you know why when I try to post a pic, it tells me I'm over my 100kb limit? Even a small pic is like 300. What am I doing wrong?

What you're doing wrong is posting pics directly to the forum instead of posting them elsewhere and linking to them.

Put your pics on Photobucket. Then copy the URL and post it here, using the IMG tags (when you post, look for the little yellow square icon with an image of a mountain on it).

Here's what you need to do to make the pics appear.

Either:

- Click on the little icon I told you about in the last post and paste in the URL of the photo, or;

- Manually type IMG in square brackets, followed by the URL of your photo, followed by /IMG in square brackets.

I posted the pics from home. Now I am in my office and they seem to come up okay. Anybody else having problems?

BTW, adouglas, your profile says you are a writer. What do you write? Hope I'm not being too nosy, just curious... :)

Oh, the links work fine. I'm talking about making the image appear in the post itself.

Here's a bare link, like you posted:

Here's the same link, but with the IMG tags in place:

Thank you, sir, for all of your help! To me, writing is very enjoyable in any way, shape or form. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics even though it's not a Bongo

And to all, I will post updates on this fine bass and the musical journeys I hope to take with it!! :)

Niice! I may have to tort my HB 'Ray now.

Checked out your site and it's great :) but, yeah, I've never been a fan of the white/honeyburst combo so...tort that baby!!

Hey, more importantly, I see a new arrival this year!! Congrats on the baby!!! :D :D

Hey, ptg!

A much, much belated congratulations on your now-not-quite-so-new fretless Stingray. It looks marvelous!

I remember writing to you ages ago telling you that I also ordered an unlined fretless from EB. Like you, I went with the Honeyburst finish option. However, mine is slightly different, as I opted for the black pickguard and the piezo pickup option as well. But, the playability and the "vibe" is probably virtually identical to yours.

I finally received the bass about three weeks ago now. That was a long wait (as I originally ordered it in March), but it was worth it. I've been playing the hell out of it. I really like it.

I hope you're still enjoying your fretless, too.
