I was looking around online today for a 2-band EQ Stingray or a Stingray Classic and I realized that almost all online retailers carry Stingray Specials (with 3-band EQ). Can anyone here confirm if Stingrays with 2-band EQ's or Stingray Classics are being phased out? Or if it is just temporarily out of production?

EBMM just say they have ceased being offered. To my knowledge, they haven't said anything about them actually being phased out.

Below is a thread about the availability of the "Classic" Basses.

Thanks for the info and the link to the other discussion. I have a classic 5 but was looking for a classic 4 string. I actually something with a 2-band eq but the classic bridge with the foam is also appreciated.

I think they’ll bring them back if not soon I think the chance is pretty high for 2026 for the 50th anniversary. They stopped making the chip to the preamp and my guess is they’re gonna figure out a replacement by then. Do wish they’d do alnico offerings. The stingray HHs from 2008-2017 sound really gorgeous to me but I have a very particular preamp setting that doesn’t translate well to the new preamp/pickups

My prediction though is I think the 2026 classic will have the long poles, smoothie had long poles, cliff williams had long poles, they’re gonna do it, it’s gonna be nuts lol. Then 3 years later they’re gonna do the Sabre again and this time it might sell good? I dunno I wanna believe. Was a stingray diehard at one point but now like the Sabre a lot more, those smaller(but still big)pickups!
