Off Topic Noise suppressor?

My amp hums. I need a gate/suppressor/limiter/whatever. What are you guys using?

I bought a BOSS noise suppressor but i dont use it anymore, but it was ok, no noise at all but it killed my sound..

I'm not looking for BOSS. I was looking at a DBX 266xl. I've heard great things about it.

Try out an ISP Decimator pedal. I heard that they're amazing noise suppressors. I'm gonna be picking up one shortly.

I've been looking at that one too. My only concern is notes getting cut off if the threshold is too high.

The Boss NS-2 is a great noise suppressor. The trick to getting it to work well is to read the manual and use the loop for your OD/Distortion pedals rather than sticking the pedal in line near the end of the chain, which is what most people do.

You can get them used fairly cheap on Ebay - definitely worth a try IMHO.

I think you run that risk with any noise suppressor. Some are just more effective than others though.
